4.0 out of 5 stars Good stuff, 16 Jan 2004

Lullacry. A good band, nice production on this record. The heaviness of the backline provides a good contrast to the vocals and guitar lead lines. A very good effort, although a little samey in places, there are some bbrilliant tracks on here. Alright Tonight opens the album with a stream of treble and then kicks you in the gut when the full band launches into a euphoric metal assault on your ears. My second favourite track is Pitch Black Emotions. The riff, the hook, the rhythm....it all blends together to make something that makes you want to put on your best metal grrr face and play air guitar until the cows come home....or somone notices you acting like a muppet.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Female fronted HIM ?, 3 Jul 2004

(TOP 1000 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
Lullacry are from Finland and their music slots very easily into the increasingly popular goth/rock genre.
Musically Lullacry are very similair to HIM and the 69 Eyes rather than (say) Evanessence or Nightwish and play fairly straight forward 3-4 minute rock/metal with good riffs, pounding bass lines the odd guitar lead.
Tanja, the female lead vocalists voice is pretty good and she is a singer rather than a screamer which makes an interesting contrast to the occasionally very heavy riffage.

It always hard to compare vocalists, but Tanja sounds a bit like Teri Nunn (who sang Take My Breathe Away with the band Berlin).

The album rips along at a fair pace and at around 45 minutes long it doesn't have time to get dull.
The standout track is Don't Touch The Flame, but it is fairly representative of the quality of songwriting and tone of the album and is by no means the only good song . Over Me, Alright Tonight, Heart of Darkness, Better Days are also excellent and it's the kind of album that I think will offer up new favourites over time and repeated listening.

I'd recommend you give this album a go, it's very accessible and enjoyable and deserves to get more attention.

4.0 out of 5 stars Lullacry - Crucify my Heart, 10 Oct 2003
The CD simply rocks!
Tanja, lead vocalist, has a sultry voice that can make you melt and fall in love with her in a second. The band have upped their sound and produced a harder sound making this album more Rock, compared to there other albums which have a more gothic sound.
