BOOK TWO of a Two Part Series. BOOK ONE is currently FREE! So download it NOW! ...you've got nothing to lose! Then read the reviews,  settle back in your chair, and forget everything for the next few days!

For fans of Dan Brown, John Grisham, and David Baldacci, Crown of Thorns is a fictional thriller which takes place in the field of genetics and human cloning.

Hugely controversial, you will either love this book or hate it. Some will feel challenged and uncomfortable by the topic it deals with, and others will be drawn into it and unable to put it down... the question is, what will you think?

A young student at Oxford University has an idea for his doctor's thesis (Ph.D.), which fulfils not only the criteria for 'originality', but goes far beyond it. For if Jason Dyke is right, his idea will soon change the world and shift the delicate balance of power from one nation to another.

Jason's idea is simple: In the genetics laboratory at Oxford University, he will clone Jesus Christ.

But when the CIA finds out about his plan, the President of America realises that if the UK succeeds, the balance of power will shift from the USA to Europe. And he realises that the only way to stop this happening is for America to create its very own clone of Jesus Christ.

The race is on...

Genetics is the future. In the coming years, or maybe even months, the single most important scientific development in the history of mankind will be the development of human cloning. This book is based upon a simple idea, which takes the inevitable science of human cloning, one step further.

What makes this book stand out from other novels that deal with a similar concept is the way the author makes the science seem plausible, by explaining simply what genetics is and how cloning works. By leading the reader through the latest advances in cloning techniques until even the impossible seems possible, the reader cannot help but get sucked into the story. Right to the very end the author successfully maintains the thrill of the ride, and manages to keep a surprise up his sleeve...

Whoever reads this book will never forget it. And they will ask....one of two questions:-

1: Is it really possible?

2: When will it happen?

Please note: Crown of Thorns is also available in an Omnibus Edition containing Book One and Book Two (See Author's Page)

Author's Note: If you are a fan of Ian C.P. Irvine's work, please watch out for his latest novel : London 2005 : 'Marrying Slovakia' (A Romantic Thriller of the Heart), which is being published on May 15th .

Reviews for Crown of Thorns Omnibus Edition:-

Five Stars: By B Baynes "Head Bookworm" (Worcestershire, England)

I just happened on this book while browsing through Amazon to find things to download to my Kindle. The premise of the book captured my interest so I duly downloaded it. And, I loved it! The story is utter nonsense, let's be honest - recreating Jesus Christ through cloning?! But, it is written in such an engaging manner that I found myself drawn in unwittingly. Mid-read, I actually broke my ankle and I found myself begging my family to bring my Kindle to the hospital so I could continue reading the book! I would recommend this highly to any one else, with the proviso that they suspend belief and read it for what it is - a truly interesting and captivating piece of fiction!

Five Stars: By Mr. A. Zabinec (Notts, UK)

Browsing the Kindle store for something to 'unwind' me, I chanced upon this excellent gem of a book. To my mind, the Author mirrors perfectly the Biblical events of Jesus' birth 2000 years ago and the subsequent 'Revelations' predicted for our time. The Characters are totally believable, able to deduce and thwart the plans of the Americans and British governments and to hide the true Messiah. A well thought out and researched book by the author, I was totally absorbed in it from start to finish. Believers & non believers alike will enjoy this thumping good read!!!

Ian Irvine was brought up in Scotland, and studied Physics for far too many years, before travelling the world working for high-technology companies. Ian has spent a career helping build the internet and delivering its benefits to users throughout the world,...as well as helping to bring up a family. Ian enjoys writing, painting and composing in his spare time. His particular joy is found in taking scientific fact and creating a thrilling story around it in such a way that readers learn science whilst enjoying the thrill of the ride. It is Ian's hope that everyone who reads an I.C.P.Irvine novel will come away learning something interesting that they would never otherwise have found an interest in. Never Science fiction. Always science fact. With a twist.

The first of Ian's novels is a Genetic Conspiracy Thriller which explores the world of Stem Cell Research and encourages us all to ask some very searching questions about the advances that science is making, and how much we, or others, should let it affect society. A contemporary adventure, "The Orlando File" takes the reader around the world and back, and creates a unique moral dilemma that the reader cannot help get embroiled in: at the end, the reader must ask themself, what they would do in that situation?

His second novel "The Crown of Thorns" explores the power of genetics, explores the questions that the potential to clone humans will raise, and asks the ultimate question...what would happen if a scientist found a way to clone Jesus Christ?

Ian's third novel "London 2012 : What If?" departs from the world of genetics and explores an interesting possibility that Quantum Physics raises:the possibility for parallel worlds to exist alongside each other...and what would happen if a man who wondered what other types of lives he could be living had he made other choices, where unexpectedly to step from one world into another, similar but different, parallel world. "What If" is also an interesting vovage through human emotions, and many readers will find themselves asking themselves similar questions that lead character does as they read the book. As with both "The Crown of Thorns" and "The Orlando File", at the end of the book the reader is left thinking...and different readers may take away different views on how the novels did, or should have ended... It is hoped that in this way, the novels will make themselves ideal subjects for reading clubs or book clubs.

Ian's fourth book "The Sleeping Truth" is a departure from his fast paced medical and scientific thrillers, and is a contemporary novel inspired and based upon the tragic events that affected everyone who lived in London in 2005. The novel is fiction, and all characters in the novel, except one (the singer Helen Boulding), are imaginary. The novel tries to capture the spirit of London life in 2005. It is essentially a love story, but with every chapter there comes a new twist. As the pages roll by the main character becomes involved with a dilemma that changes and evolves and gets more complex with each passing day. And then, just as you think you have come to a happy ending, the world around Andrew Jardine collapses, and Andrew realises that nothing in his life was as it seemed. The novel explores the importance of trust in a relationship, and takes the main character on a voyage of discovery through which Andrew discovers that his whole life has been based upon a lie. But can he discover the truth and learn the vital lesson he needs, before it is too late? Or will he have lost the love of his life for ever...Okay, so perhaps it is a thriller after all... but a thriller of the heart!

Book Number Five has rapidly become an international besteller, first in the US, but now also in the UK where is has been the No.1. Medical Thriller since June 2013. Available either as a complete book: "Haunted from Within", or as two parts "Haunted From Within (Book One): Maciek's Story (which is FREE) and "Haunted From Within (Book Two): Peter's Story. Maciek's Story has already had over 90,000 downloads and in the UK has hundreds of reviews with an average rate of 4.72 stars out of five.

Book number Six was recently published and is a adventure thriller for everyone, with a bit of everything in it: Time Travel, Nuclear Weapons, Pirates from the 17th Century transported to the 21st Century, treasure, a pathogen plague that threatens to wipe out all humanity, romance, humour...it's all there! : "21st Century Pirates Inc". (Also available in two parts, the first part which is Free!(Free to Pillage!)

There is also a Book number seven: "Alexis Meets Wiziwam the Wizard" -it's a charming story for six year olds learning to read, and tells the story of a little girl, Alexis, who discovers that a Wizard is teaching magic to fairies and goblins in her own school! She joins the class, learns to fly, and thwarts a secret plan by a bad goblin to destroy the world! Whereas all the other books are in part based on some essence of truth, "Alexis meets Wiziwam the Wizard is completely made up!"

Ian hopes that if you honour him by spending the time reading one his novels, that you will find it a positive experience, and enjoy it.

Please write to him and let him know what you think...and if you enjoy his works, please spread the word and tell your friends!

Happy Reading!

So many scientific holes in this book it's barely there. Stereotypical characters, unbelievable situations and completely unsurprising ending that no doubt leaves us with the possibility of a sequel. Not for me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Extreamly Gripping 16 Dec 2013

Loved this book. Book one and book two, the best books I have read (you have to read them both). Could not put them down. Kept me reading until the early hours. Would love to see them made into a film. Only thing I was upset by was the demise of certain people before the end of the book.(I don't want to give to much away).I would and am recommending these two books to everyone I know.

5.0 out of 5 stars crown of thorns 2 14 Dec 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Excellent book very well written and thought provoking. Really does get you thinking about a subject which is controversial. Would it be possible? Has it already been tried to some extent? You decide!
The only small niggle on my part is the ending....it felt cut off too abrupt. I felt I still had more to read. Still a brilliant book tbough.

4.0 out of 5 stars Well Worth A Read 6 Dec 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
First off I felt that the two books would have made one book.
I like Ian Irvines' flowing and open style of writing.
There are quite a number of spelling errors and duplication of words.
The time lapses weren't too clear at times.
There are a few holes in the story-line.
BUT... all this being said it was a good page turner and well worth a read.
I'm left waiting for a follow up.
I want to know what happened to both the cloned boys Jesus and the Pharaoh when/if they reached adulthood.
Did Jesus meet the Antichrist if so what was the outcome?

I'll now give Ian's Pirates of The 21st Century a read, this sounds a right cocktail of themes and story-lines.
