Product Description

and the colours depend on the glass and coatings in use. Normally you want to avoid these effects, but occasionally they can add interest - as they more often to in film or video footage. A lens hood enables you to shoot 'contre-jour' or towards the light source, so long as you keep it outside the image area, without excessive flare. This can produce some exciting results. Package Includes: One lens Hood.

Cheapness shows 4 Nov 2009
Arrived today, wouldn't screw into my Canon 500D standard lens, nor the telephoto. Finally got it to screw into my UV filter when it was off the lens but had a hell of a job getting it off again. The screw thread is abrading and has worn the thread on my UV filter, so I won't be reattaching it for fear of never being able to unscrew it. Will now have to pay for the proper Canon lens hood.

Decent product 15 Feb 2009
I needed a Hood for my new Canon lens which sadly wasn't included in the purchase.Reviews had stated that genuine canon hoods were expensive for what they were, a piece of moulded plastic. Having searched through what was available on Amazon and in retail shops I opted for this, deciding to go for the cheap option. Delivery was quick and the product is as described, a plastic crown shaped hood that does the job perfectly. Its sturdy enough with an easy grip locking ring,a decent product, worth the money.

Not suitable for some Canon lenses
Not suitable for EF-S 18-55 or EF-S 55-250 or any other lens where the front rotates as it focuses. The petals simply rotate with the lens defeating its purpose. Read more

Shouldnt buy cheap
I should have known not to buy cheap. Not a very good fit on the thread of my lens and also shadows appear at wide angle.

Poor quality thread
This is made from cheap plastic and it doesnt take much to trash the thin thread. If your looking for something to last a while, look elsewhere.

Reasonable for the price
You do have to take care with screwing this onto the lens but at the price it does the job I bought it for and if money is tight it is well worth a purchase.

Useful but not perfect
You get what you pay for - stands very true for this item. The threads seem a bit fragile and require a bit of care while attaching to the camera. Read more
