Firstly, as another reviewer mentions, this case is definitely NOT dark brown as advertised - it's grey with a black interior. Apart from that, it's exactly as described in the write-up.
I chose to buy a flip and play case because, as I'm sure other people who have purchased the dsi xl have noticed, the dsi has a glossy top surface which picks up greasy finger marks far too easily, so this seemed to me to be the best option for keeping a the xl clean.
Unfortunately there aren't very many visually appealing cases available for the dsi xl - maybe because it's a fairly new product - so this case was, for me, the best choice.
I can honestly say I'm not disappointed with it - the dsi xl fits safely and securely into the case. The clips hold the ds in place without damaging the console. The magnetic clip for holding the case shut is strong enough. It comes with a spare stylus pen (the small one), and space for 3 cartridges (although to be honest they are rather inadequate).
There are two elasticated stylus holders. The one for the small stylus is fine, but the one for the larger stylus is a bit too small so the pen sticks out the edge of the case a bit. I think that continued use will only cause the elastic to fray rather than 'give' enough for the pen to fit snugly.
The case itself seems quite sturdy.
One major flaw in the design is that it's supposed to be a flip and play case, but it is so rigid that you can't bend the top of the case under the bottom bit, and also you have to hold the magnetic closing catch underneath the console while playing. This is a bit annoying and can be a little fiddly when playing the xl while charging it as the top of the case needs to be held back a bit to prevent it from pressing on the charger. Maybe this will be less of a problem with continued use as hopefully this will make the case a bit more flexible.
However, on the whole I would say this case is a reasonable purchase. The price is about right for what you get, and it keeps your dsi xl free from dust and grease.
