Throw away all preconceived ideas about the relevance of a Benedictine monk's ruminations to the dilemmas and confusion facing ordinary people in the 21st Century.

At times almost unbearably honest, Mark Barrett writes from the heart. He succeeds in bridging the gap dividing the Christian prayer tradition "often perceived as boring or irrelevant" and real life issues from the mundane to the crises.

Beautifully written, inspiration and analogy are drawn from a wealth of literature and film in addition to western and eastern religious texts.

I would highly recommend this book to both the religious and secular seeker.

Stunning 19 Dec 2009
Format:Paperback
Quite simply the most thought-provoking, honest and incredible book I've ever read. It was so interesting, I read it very quickly and am now on my second read, although I think it will need a number of reads to digest all the wisdom that is contained here.

This book is an enthralling read. Each turn of the page provides you with a new imaginative and innovative insight into the world of monastic life and the confusion facing a Benedictine monk in the 21st century.

The book provides you with a new insight into the world of faith and prayer. As a student at Mark Barrett's school, I understand his views and can honestly say that this book is brutally honest.

I promise that this book will not disappoint!
