Synopsis

Crossing the bridge of Infinity

By Adair Broughton

Crossing the Bridge of Infinity is about travelling towards the answers that intrigue us but not knowing how long that journey will take. The book is one hundred and ten thousand words and begins with one of the most interesting questions of all. Why is there something rather than nothing?

It follows the life of a young man who feels initially despondent because he feels science has answered all the questions but the more he searches for knowledge and understanding, the more he realises that physics is also philosophy and how much there is that is still mysterious in the world.

Each chapter is loosely based on a theme, such as religion and time or love. It is written as an insight into the mind of a young man living in contemporary Britain and his search for meaning in everyday things as well as trying to renew his perspective on life itself. It asks questions in an accessible manner, which the reader can use and build on themselves. It is a thought provoking, personal insight into someone else’s thought processes and mind.

For everything that becomes known there will always be an infinite regress of why. It is this aspect of infinity that is appealing. The questions have to start somewhere and it is one man’s story in crossing that bridge.
