Product Description

Product Description

Examining the biological effects of electromagnetism, the author shows how the discoveries of electricity and magnetism in the human body have led to an understanding of how accupuncture, electrotherapy, homeopathy and hypnosis are thought to work. But at the same time, man-made electromagnetic fields are, according to Dr Becker, affecting our bodies - power-lines, pylons, radar, VDUs, microwaves, satellites and even electrical appliances can harm us. The electromagnetic grid and signals which span the nation are also exposing us to the sort of radiation previously considered safe, but now thought to be associated with the increase in cancer, birth defects, depression, Alzheimer's disease and Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. On the practical front, Dr Becker suggests ways of reducing the risk from personal computers, fluorescent lights, electric clocks, microwave ovens and other equipment in the home and office. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

An excellent book written with intelligence & insight, electropollution is mostly being ignored by mainstream media & their controllers, the government & the power generating industry... it's good to see that someone of the standing of Dr Becker has published such an insightful book..

"Cross Currents" was originally written in 1990, some five years after Becker's groundbreaking "The Body Electric", and is partly an up-date to the earlier book and partly a stronger warning against the possible effects of electropollution.

However, by the time of writing "Cross Currents", the author had retired from academic research [or, as some would see it, been forced into premature retirement by those parts of the scientific/industrial establishment that were rather frightened by the implications of his work being made public...] so there's not much radically 'new' here beyond "The Body Electric".

For anyone reading this book today, it's biggest drawback is simply that so much has happened since the 1980's and early 90's: think of the billion-or so mobile phones now in use around the planet and the resulting additional EMF; Becker was very concerned by the man-made electro-magnetic environment twenty-odd years ago, who's around to continue his work today?
