5.0 out of 5 stars The Spider reappears at long last!, 15 Sep 2007

This review is from: King of Crooks (featuring The Spider) (Hardcover)
Take a trip back in time to the swinging sixties with this classic British anti-Hero! Your chance at last to know what on earth all the older comic fans are talking about with this archive edition of the Spider's first adventures and if the blurb is to be belived its only the first volume! I wonder when they will release Robot Archie, the Steel Claw also has his very own archive edition. Well worth a read now the Spider has also popped up in Albion by Alan Moore.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nostalgia at its Best, 6 Mar 2010

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: King of Crooks (featuring The Spider) (Hardcover)
From a time before the multi-parted, highly coloured, graphic novel productions of today, this is a mere whiff of a part of the 1960s which time seemed to have forgotten. British comics are one of the last remaining Forgotten Lands - overshadowed by the Marvel reprints (Terrific and Fantastic - the latter on higher quality paper than anything else of its time) - and these pieces help to highlight the weekly Sense of Wonder that titles such as Lion and Valiant were able to generate, long before Century 21 and its glossy imitators came along.

I don't know what plans are for any further reprints, but it would certainly be very much appreciated if the remaining parts of The Spider's life could once again be presented to a new audience. And now, if you'll excuse me, my helicar awaits...

5.0 out of 5 stars NEVER BEEN SO HAPPY TO SEE A SPIDER!, 19 Sep 2008
This review is from: King of Crooks (featuring The Spider) (Hardcover)
Like the Steel Claw, an absolute classic is returned to us and not before time. Theres a whole list of these British comic characters which MUST be shown the light of day again all which appeared along with the Spider and the claw .Everything is so different and distinctive ,the stories and the artwork, all magical stuff. We want lots more.
