Book Description

11 Jan 2013
If you have Crohn's disease, you've come to the right place- the recipes in this cookbook were developed for healthy living with this condition. According to Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America, nutrition is a key principle in managing Crohn's. Foods may not cure this disease, but healthy choices can help decrease the symptoms and promote the healing of the digestive tract. Crohn's is an inflammatory bowel disease. Inflammation can involve different parts of the digestive tract's lining. This inflammation leads to abdominal pain, diarrhea and malnutrition. Luckily, there are so called "anti-inflammatory "foods that help reduce the swelling of the gut and promote the healing. Here is a sample of anti-inflammatory, Crohn's friendly diet.

4.0 out of 5 stars Quick, easy and healthy! 3 May 2014
Format:Paperback
I came across this book because I bought another in the series, 100 Simple Recipes for IC Sufferers, so I downloaded this one to my Kindle too. And it's a couple of dollars we'll spent. I'm fast becoming a fan. Homemade cheeses, hummus and ice-cream are far easier to make than I expected. Whether you suffer from these conditions or not, chances are you know someone who does, and to be able to whip up a quick and healthy snack or meal for them that non sufferers will enjoy too, is great. I hope there will be more in the Essential Books recipes series. Very handy indeed! Oh, and the pecan tarts are scrumptious!

2.0 out of 5 stars Not the book for me 19 Feb 2014

Most of the recipes include things I can't eat without setting my Crohn's off. Maybe there are people out there that can tolerate the foods I can't. So for me, it's two stars, but for someone else it may be 5 stars.
