Product Description

An unusual crochet book featuring an innovative stitch. Crocodile stitch is 'formed by a two row repeat: a row of V-stitches (dc, ch 1, dc) followed by a row of scales (or shells). This is a fairly easy pattern to execute and is fast to memorize' says the book's author, and the result is a really thick chunky textured fabric. There is one shawl, a hood, two pairs of wrist warmers, three hats and a neck warmer. As usual for an Annie's Attic publication the step by step photos are very clear and the instructions are completely accesible to the beginner crocheter. There are stitch abbreviations at the back of the book, a yarn conversion weight chart, an all-important US stitch to UK stitch chart (a US single crochet is a UK double crochet and the book is American), a pictorial stitch guide to everything from chain to a treble crochet increase and a page of metric conversion charts.-sewingisforgirls.blogspot.com

The instructions are easy to follow and the patterns are an interesting variation on crochet stitches. Once mastered it is easy to develop your own patterns.

I love the challenge of learning this interesting crochet technique. Had a bit of trouble at first but the illustrations are done in large scale with good quality photographs. And I found a YouTube instruction video that helped me perfect the technique.

If you can get your head around the instructions, which are not easy then once you have the basic pattern in your head the rest is much easier. The pictures are the clue, I just tried to follow them rather than the text.

I've never used crocodile stitch until I bought this book. Photos are really easy to follow. I've only attempted the gauntlets but once you've got the hang of the stitch it's quite easy. Looking forward to making more items from the book.
I would definitely recommend this book if you're wanting to do Crocodile Stitch.

Great selection of patterns that will please young and old alike. The Crocodile Stitch works up quickly and looks fantastic in the James C Brett Monsoon yarn i bought to make the shawl for my mum. I now have a waiting list of family and friends who can't wait for me to crochet up all of the designs. Love this book so much. :D
