5.0 out of 5 stars Slow cooking and portable too? 24 Sep 2012
By FLB TOP 500 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE
Myself and my husband are keen cooks and have almost every gadget known to man and woman.

My husband got this slow cooker because of one feature, it's portable. Now I don't mean portable as in the thing can be unplugged and moved about, this one has a unique selling point, the lid can be locked down and the thing moved with the food still inside it!!

To add to this it comes with an insulated bag to carry the pot about in and keep it nice and warm for when you get there, we have a caravan and theres nothing nicer at this time of year than arriving and having a nice hot curry or soup ready and waiting for us when we arrive.

This slow cooker is like all others that we have ever had apart from the fact that it can be moved about and kept warm and because of that it is the best.

Anyone who has ever owned a slow cooker or eaten anything out of one will see the immediate benefits, I could put one of my husbands boots inside it and cook it for twelve hours and it would be edible, just a bit on the tasteless side! What it does allow you to do is to use cheaper cuts of meat to make a delicious meal, something we seem to have lost the ability to do.

Sundays chicken leftovers can be thrown into the cooker for ten hours with a few vegetables to make a delicious stock that can make a fantastic risotto for Monday night and chicken soup for Tuesday.

Well worth the price, don't bother with all the fancy names and features that you will never use, buy a slow cooker that will do exactly what you want it to do, cook food, slowly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great buy 17 Nov 2012

I am really pleased with the Crock-Pot and Carry Slow Cooker. I travel back and forth to work (2 hour train journey each way) and this new buy is excellent. I can now walk into the house and have a delicious meal at the ready.

The size is great whether cooking for just the 2 of us or for the extended family.

Having elderly relatives I bought this slower for the carry facility. The food keeps nice and hot and ready to serve after our 25 min. drive across to their house.

Very pleased

Sometimes I have this vision of myself as creating delicious meals for potluck suppers and suchlike, with other people there scoffing my food and asking for the recipe.....

Anyway, to feed this fantasy, I thought this would be a good option as this Crock-pot has an insulated bag, locking lid, removeable power supply and solid carry handles so it is indeed transportable.

It is extremely attractive and sturdy in appearance, with a stainless steel finish which is very easy to keep clean. It would be nice if it had a light to show that it's on, but ah well.

It is pretty large, so you will need to have sufficient workspace (or a groovy shelf unitMULTI PURPOSE 4 tier chrome wire steel shelving unit SUITABLE FOR KITCHEN HOME OFFICE [Commercial High Quality Grade] to store it conveniently.

I have only used it a couple of times so far, and have been happy with the results. I cooked a joint of pork in it on Sunday and it was meltingly delicious - after ten hours! Even my husband, who normally complains that joints or meat or too tough, was happy. I do have two other slow cookers, but they are too small for cooking a joint of meat or a whole chicken, so this was another reason I went for this larger model.

I think this slow cooker has features you can't get elsewhere, and has a stylish appearance and appears top quality, so I think it's worth the extra money. A good investment for cooks who like to take it slow, like me!

Cooks everything perfectly well.
Only gripe is the lack of an on/off light. I've left it switched on overnight a couple of times because of it. Read more

If you are travelling and require a stock pot, then this is it. Only downside is the lack of a power on light. It should have one at this price.
