5.0 out of 5 stars 365 stitches, different yarn and hooks--endless! 26 Jan 2009
By Barbara Rhoades TOP 500 REVIEWER
Keeping our days straight is not always easy or fun. With this perpetual calendar you can stay on track AND have a good time.

Each day gives you a new crochet stitch to try. The desk calendar is 8" wide and 6" high in a stand-up format. The flip pages are wire ringed bound so keeping your page open will not be a problem. The calendar starts with Special Instructions such as defining multiples and a list of abbreviations symbols and a glossary. There is no gauge size given so you can be creative and use whatever yarn type/size and hook size you choose. Different yarn and hook sizes will give each pattern a different look. So not only do you get 365 patterns, with a hook or yarn change you get even more. I won't even try to figure out the math on that with all the yarns and hooks available today.

Each day has a color photo of a crochet swatch and the instructions for creating it. January 1st is the V-Stitch and the 2nd is Clusters. With this being a perpetual calendar, you can use it again and again.

You can make several Afghans out of just trying your hand at each stitch by creating squares of the same size. Then just whip stitch them together into an afghan. With 365 different squares, you will be able to have several ready to give by next Christmas!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Crochet Calendar 7 Dec 2007
By J. Bass - Published on Amazon.com
This fantastic calendar is full of stitch patterns, which you can use for any crochet project you desire..... afghans, scarves, hats, sweaters, etc. This calendar does NOT include projects, just stitches, but the possibilities are endless. Wouldn't it be fun to make a sampler afghan using a different stitch pattern for each block?

Each day's entry is complete and does not run into multiple days. And there is one entry for each and every day of the year, including February 29th! Don't let the title of the calendar scare you off in a leap year.

Because the calendar is a perpetual calendar, you will not find days of the week, nor will you find holidays listed, since many holidays move around from year to year. What you will find are holiday themed stitch patterns on certain days, such as Irish Fans for March 17th and Deck the Halls for December 25th. And you will also find a great photo of the stitch pattern. And being a perpetual calendar, you can start using it the day it arrives.

Some stitch patterns are very classic looking and others are quite unique. Many stitch patterns employ familar stitches such as popcorns, shells, fans, front & back posts, V-stitches, picots, but they do so in a variety and clever ways. What a pleasure to look through 366 stitch patterns! And you gotta' love a calendar that includes a stitch pattern called Frisky Fans!

ps 8/11/09 - Just uploaded a photo of a stitch I used...March 28th's Lovely Lace.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful addition to your crochet library 28 Dec 2007

This perpetual calendar is just wonderful! Not only do you learn a new stitch everyday, but the directions in the front give you the numbers you need to start an entire project with this stitch. It tells how many chains to use for the repeat of the stitch and everything you need to crochet a sucessful project using the stitch. The paper is sturdy and it has a tent stand so it will stand up on its own. I have it right by my computer. I just love it!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Score! The perfect gift for a crocheter any time of year! 11 Jun 2008
By J. Arena - Published on Amazon.com
This is not one of those calendars that you use to jot down dental appointments or trips to the vet and then toss out at the end of the year. This is a calendar that you will keep forever, using again and again to keep your crochet skills really up-to-date!

As I flipped through it, I dreamed of incorporating these new stitches (well, new to me...) into scarves, sweaters, hats, etc. Imagine the delightful challenge of producing a square of each stitch into an awesome afghan! I'm drooling at the possabilities...

One of the best features of 365 Crochet Stitches a Year: Perpetual Calendar is its SPIRAL BINDING, insuring that you can easily reuse it for years to come.
