Lovely old patterns! 17 Feb 2012
By Grandma - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
This little book contains twenty lovely small crochet projects, all done with steel hook and J. P. Coats Knit-Cro-Sheen. (Yes, the materials are all still available!)

If you love the beautiful old floral patterns (I know you've seen the doily with the rose in the middle!) this is a fantastic resource for a wide variety of old flower patterns. Now that knitting season is almost over, I can't wait to dig out the crochet thread.

One criticism: the Table of Contents is not interactive so you'll have to page through to find the pattern you want. No matter, you'll have a chance to look at all the lovely ideas.
Wonderful Vintage Patterns 6 Mar 2012

I love the old patterns! Like Grandma reviewed, not having a working Table of Contents does make it more difficult, but not a deal breaker.

I will say as a beginner crocheter I find these patterns mesmerizing, can I actually do this? I like to crochet hats for Halos of Hope (a complete non profit group that relies on grass root knitters and crocheters to donate hats, then they send them to cancer centers, where people undergoing treatments can get a hat - for free!)

I was excited to see 2 hat patterns, but I feel really overwhelmed - the pictures of the patterns make a goal, but the patterns do seem like a beginner would need someone to help you through the process... for example to make the second flower the directions tell you to work as for first flower. I know its just one step at a time, and dont be overwhelmed, these are tried and true patterns! I think its worth venturing over to youtube to learn some of the techniques and for me as a beginner to get used to the pattern terms - but I want to make that hat!!
