Format:DVD
This is exactly the same as the Entertainment in video set. Anamorphic widescreen with 5.1 dolby digital sound and trailers for all 4 films. With international distribution deals expiring, more of New Lines back catalog is getting released by Warner Bros. (warner Bros now owns New Line) The Entertainment in video release is now deleted and is now going for a higher price. This set is a fantastic 80's flashback. Those who rented these on vhs will be blown away by how crisp they all look now.

Critters 2: The Main Course (1988)
1.85 : 1
The second film was in Ultra Stereo which was essentialy a cheaper version of Dolby Stereo. This also has been given the 5.1 treatment although I would have liked the original 2 track Ultra Stereo soundtrack included.
Critters 3 (1991)
1.85 : 1
Originaly in stereo it also has new 5.1 sound (this was Leonardo Dicaprio's first film)
Critters 4 (1992)
1.85 : 1
Originaly in stereo it also has new 5.1 sound (This was the one with a Sci-Fi Space theme)
All these films are fun, even more so if you grew up with them. At the bargain price WB are selling these its a no brainer.This set is highly recommended.

Really good buy. Cheap and lots of Critters. This package satisfies fully if you love the Critter movies. The case is slightly thicker than a normal DVD case.

If you're looking at this box set chances are, like me, you saw it as a kid and have fond memories of it. Well sadly, the films weren't as good as I remember. Hardly a surprise as I can't have been a lot older than 8 when I first saw 'Critters'.
That said, for the money, it's not a bad price for a short trip down memory lane. It's worth a few quid of anyone's money to see an 18 year old, pony-tailed Billy Zane get eaten alive by a critter. You'll also get to see a very young Leonardo De Caprio in one of the films too.
I must say, the transfers are excellent and the visual quality of the films really are surprisingly good - much better than when I first saw them on VHS. Overall though, maybe better left in the past. Nostalgia, it seemed, played a big part in me thinking these were good films, because when I got to watching them again, they weren't as good as I remembered. Overall 5/10. That's probably being generous.

I bought this because it was a blast from the past and the fact that there is no stupid cgi effects. The critters are material not some computer effects :)

Epic little critters
Seen this when I was a kid I watched it all the time but I will say the first and second DVD's are the best 3 and 4 are piss poor in my view but still a good buy!!!!

Livin' in the 80s
In it's time Critters was a grown up version of Gremlins. If you want a good old laugh with little thought to the story then this is fot you.

silly but very funny
These are not really horror movies. They're more of a humorous parody, like Tremors for example. Even safe for kids, except maybe the 4th which has a few seconds of nudity. Read more
