Of the four cd's I bought at the same time, this is the one that refuses to leave my player. (the others were Faithless, Leftfield, and Hybrid). Tipper combines the best caustic sounds of Autechre, Aphex Twin with vocals a la Lamb, all supported by a subsonic bass that you have to feel rather than hear. Ear damage is paramount apparently. The mood of the first two tracks is dark and twisted, full of hard breaks, but they also contain a soothing melody. It is this contrast that prevails throughout the album. Excellent! I'm almost willing to give it 5 stars, and maybe I will in a few weeks time.

The music on this album is like nothing you have ever heard. It has an amazing range of sounds and an amazing soundscape. Tracks like 'supersport' will interest more hardcore electronica-heads, whereas tracks like 'on condition' will appeal to anyone searching for extraordinary experimental music. The whole album takes you on a trip. The track L.E.D Down will appeal to alot of people who haven't heard much of this kind of music before because of vocals which complement the music perfectly. The last track will just blow you away, and when you think you've finally reached the blissful climax of the album, Dave Tipper adds a little twist to the end which will put a smile on your face.

Recently bought this again purely for completist reasons having lost my original copy , and have to say whilst showing off the man's production skills it doesn't hang together too well even for a first attempt.

Distinctly average-sounding in parts, though no doubt ground-breaking back then, this hasn't worn well since my sub-bass days.
Still irritated by Cable To Continue and Last Informer - dreary female vocals and some bass'n'bleeps - obvious filler to me, and always skipped.

Look elsewhere, namely Surrounded, Relish the Trough, or Broken Soul Jamboree for his best work, Surrounded in particular being an IDM favourite in its 5:1 version.

Maybe 5 good tracks out of 10, so only 2.5/5 for me.

This is an absolute gem. The album starts of slow and builds to a pace that shakes you to the very core. Buy this NOW!

one of the best albums i've heard in last two or three years. honestly, here is an album of rich expression, high quality production, modern (contemporary?) sound exploration and "contextualisation". it might not be for everyone's ears and it definitely needs a sort of contemplation to "understand" it.
