Covers an amazing scope of subjects you need to think about in a general icu. Also very relevant to any area of medicine and surgery where care of any critically ill people takes place. Well written,enjoyable to browse through and great as a reference book of serious illness.

Although not a massive fan of this series of books, due to the inherently dogmatic structure, i couldn't help but be attracted by its azure blue cover. As an ITU book of about 400 pages long the detail is moderate but better than i thought it would be. Also the question format does keep you interested because you can see yourself trying to regurgitate it coherently when quizzed by a consultant. I've read several general ICU books e.g. the oxford desk reference and i still got something extra out of this one. Overall its fairly high yield and of nice quality

This book is a perfect refresher course. It helps pull the various concepts of critical care together. The concise question-answer format keeps you from having to search through pages and pages to get the answer you want.

Critical Care Secrets

I am a critical care pharmacist and bought this to see if anything useful for reference, teaching. I didn't see anything that was beyond a typical textbook approach...but then I didn't keep the book because the print was too small (not as small as Sanford's guide) but too much trouble to try to read. I think the ICU book by Marino has more pearls and is easy to read.
