Product Description

Album Description
This genre defying full length debut from North London's Interlock, combinines Cyber, Death Metal and Industrial influences with dance and ambient textures, and male and female vocals - all cohesively held together by a stunning production job courtesy of guitarist John Tyrell. Influences range from NIN, Fear Factory and Anathema to a more traditional death metal approach. Opener 'Skinless' is a full on assault of extreme metal, double bass and blast beats, and contrasts well with further tracks such as the beautiful My Dying Bride/NIN influcenced 'This Waking Moment', grandiose choirs on 'Never//Lost', ambient Porcupine Tree-esque textures on 'Cold Air' and the driving groove assault of 'Cause'. Pure aggression and beauty. CD also features enhanced multimedia section chronicling the history of the band, with a 20 minute film documentary and remix video track.

About the Artist
Mixing elements of Rock, Dance, Industrial and Metal, Interlock have managed to create a unique sound that is exclusively their own. Hal Sinden - vocals Emmeline May - vocals Syan - bass Matt Platts - drums Chris 'Static' Dixon - guitars John Tyrell - guitars/programming

3.0 out of 5 stars Gabba gabba metal bang bang, 14 April 2006
By Mr. H "the-rocker.co.uk" (Embra) - See all my reviews
(TOP 100 REVIEWER)
See what happens when you accidentally turn the volume up to max on your all singing, all dancing headphones. I didn't know that noise can make you temporarily blind, but I do now. For the cacophony contained within this CD is quite remarkable. Basically, it goes 'wooooooooaaaaaaaaaaarrrggh, blaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrghhhhh, bleep bleep, swoosh, skreeeeeeeeetch', then repeat until a stentorian voice pops up to speak in actual English, before starting all over again.

And it's thoroughly enjoyable, especially when the volume is reduced from 11 to about 9. I recall being quite taken with their "Skinless Remix EP", saying excellent blah blah blah very good etc. And across an entire elpee it's even more impressive. It's certainly nice to know that singer Hal Sinden is not just a pretty face, having been voted most shaggable male in 2005. Of course, it doesn't say who or what wants to shag him - could be a two headed billy goat for all I know - but once the glamour fades and the fashion show invites dry up, he can look back with pride on this.

I don't know if anyone recalls the split second in nineteen ninety something when gabba was supposed to be the next big thing, but if you do, think back to Johnny Violent, ad din some actual music, and you'd be pretty close. However, if no-one apart from Mr Violent, his mum, Mrs Violent and me remember, then basically it's a quite intoxicating mix of metal, electro and industrial. Start off with "Skinless", then jump on to "Creed" and end with "Sleepless" and you'll have the snappy highlights, but there's plenty more to pleasure yourself with elsewhere.
