I bought this after my Ethernet/RJ-45/Cat5e cable had its connector broken through overuse (I switch cables round so they are always being removed from one port and placed into another). The latching mechanism broke off and this meant that the cable would sometimes slip out of the port.
This problem occurred in 3 cables in total so it was cheaper to repair them then it would be to replace them (one is a 10 metre cable).
The tool crimps very well and I was pleased with this. However, the in-built cable cutters could not come close to using traditional wire cutters. The cutter for round cables on this tool would often cut into the inner cables which would weaken them. The flat cable cutter of the tool was reasonable but you are better off using the traditional wire cutters hence the 4 stars.
Overall the tool crimps really well and well worth investing in to replace the connectors.

I puchased a set of these crimpers for my first attempt at making network cables, after making my cables and finding that only one out of five worked I took a closer look at the crimper as I crimped the plugs and found that the teeth were going between the contacts and sqaushing the plastic in between so making the pins move. It may be the rj45 plugs that I bought were cheap but that is my experience. The cutter is excellent.

Unit feels solid and well made. Works perfectly. No idea if it will handle large volume as I only have occasional need to crimp, for which purpose this unit is perfect.

great crimp for the price!
