Review

Crimespotting grabs the attention because of the calibre of the writers involved. --Metro London

A gripping compilation --The Scotsman Magazine

Product Description

All the short stories are brand new, specially commissioned for the title. The authors were asked for a story which features a crime and is set in Edinburgh. The results range from hard-boiled police procedural to historical whodunit and from the wildly comic to the spookily supernatural. Contributors are Lin Anderson, Kate Atkinson, Margaret Atwood, Christopher Brookmyre, John Burnside, Isla Dewar, A L Kennedy, Denise Mina, Ian Rankin and James Robertson, with an introduction by Irvine Welsh.

My wife bought this for me as holiday reading for a recent trip to Edinburgh, and I have to say that I was entralled by most of the stories in this great little collection. There are some great tales here to satisfy any taste, from the macabre and brutal to the gently humourous. It's a great volume to dip into but I found myself reading it from cover to cover in one sitting! Only four stars because one or two of the stories weren't, in my opinion, up to the standard of the rest. On the whole though, it's a great wee collection and one that I'd thoroughly recommend.

The selection of stories is quite good. It would be a good thing to read if a person was waiting for an appointment.
