Finally This Classic Is On DVD,

I never thought i would see this day !!Probably released due to an overview of Michael Mann's career, Anchor Bay once again deliver. Released straight after the end of Miami Vice, Crime Story takes a completely different direction to it's Florida based relation. Set in 1960's Chicago, this series focuses on the rise of mob boss Ray Luca (Anthony Dennison) and the efforts of Lt Mike Torello to bring him to justice. An excellent series with a highly authentic look, excellent storylines and a cool soundtrack played in part by Todd Rungren. An essential purchase !!

Dennis Farina's finest hour,
By H. meiehofer "haroldm" (glasgow, scotland) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE) (TOP 1000 REVIEWER) (REAL NAME)

Worth getting just to see Dennis Farina excel. I think it is realistic (Well how wiould I know, I wasn't in Vegas in the 60's) Can be a bit ludicrous at points like gangsters surviving an atom bomb test, but overall worth the money. Quite fascinating to spot future big stars in supporting roles

Pretty good series - Poor transfer,
This review is from: Crime Story - Series One [DVD] (DVD)
An interesting and fairly gripping crime show from Michael Mann - particularly when the action focuses on Torello's quarry, Ray Luca, as opposed to the trite domestic scenes. The video quality is rather poor however. Fairly gritty, with compression artifacts clearly visible. These and interlacing errors became quite distracting unfortunately - looked a bit like VHS at times.
