This has to be one of the most entertaining movies of all time. It is not necessarily one you would want to share with your Grandmother unless she doesn't mind a bit of swearing. That apart it is a must see. The plot is brilliant - twists and turns galore, the acting is top notch and the whole thing is laced with humour and a touch of pathos.

Impressed by the many complimentary reviews and the pleasure of watching such engaging professionals as Gerard Depardieu, Harvey Keitel and Johnny Hallyday I was pleased to purchase "Crime Spree" for a very acceptable price. Unfortunately for me the film was a big disappointment and will be a "one watch only". The very experienced Harvery Keitel is always watchable but both Depardieu and Hallyday are seriously underused in poor little parts. The story line, which is yet another variant on incompetent crooks, corrupt cops and aged crime bosses starts quite well but then gets bogged down in one complicated plot twist after another, which did not hold my concentration. Apart from the inevitable strong language the film is not offensive and there is an absence of gratuitous and extreme violence but to my mind the film has little value but to pass the time on a seriously wet afternoon.

A most entertaining movie with that greatest gift - humour, to which should be added a gratifyingly complex plot. It's been some time since I came across such an enjoyable film and hence am at a loss why it is not better known.

Our team is a group of pretty incompetent French robbers who are sent to do a job in Chicago, where, without straining a muscle, they accrue a number violent enemies. I say team since a fair number are involved which makes it impossible to draw all the characters in depth, all the more so since there are so many other people involved.

Give it a try and enjoy it for what it is instead of trying to draw parallels with other pictures.

When I first watched this movie I was pleasantly surprised to find that it captured and managed to combine the French and American culture. It has a wonderful cast and humor. Bungling thieves are sent to the US to get back into their boss's good graces, but as usual they are in over their heads. From the get-go everything starts going wrong and now the mob, FBI and local police are after them. Certainly worth watching over and over again.

Who says that impulse buying is bad for you.

Saw this whilst trying to find a decently priced 'Les Valseuses' - c'mon Amazon, surely it can't be that costly!

Anyway, the cover grabbed my attention, didn't read too much of the synopsis and it was in my basket before you can say "là où est le coffre-fort"

The good bits - pretty much all of it really, they're supposed to be rubbish, bumbling petty thieves but the team that gets sent over from Paris beefs them up somewhat - Johnny Halliday looks a bit like Mickey Rourke's brother and each of them gets the laughs at different points in the film.

The bad bits - well for me it was HK as the Mafia under-boss, that said, he's still good but you tend to wonder how this goombah made it to under-boss, just reminded me a bit of De Niro's Paul Vitti but then if he'd played it serious it maybe wouldn't have been as funny.

Lots of twisty turny bits make this entertaining viewing and it was money well spent.
