This is an excellent coaching manual focussing on the tecnical and mental aspects of batting. Written in a clear and concise manner this book is suitable for both players and coaches alike. One of the key features is the amount of diagrams illustrating all of the technical details. It is also a usefull tool to have netside where you can take advantage of the excellent fault finding and correction section

As a relatively inexperienced coach, I found this manual extremely helpful. It starts with the basics (meaning that I was not in danger of being lost from the off) but subsequently had enough information that I was able to go well beyond my own playing competence and educate myself as I go, allowing me to correctly coach pretty much every batting stroke - even shots I cannot personally play well. It is excellent for identifying which stroke to play for each variation of line and length. The section on stance and grip was very easy to follow and, with sufficient patience, it both illustrates and describes each step of the stroke, with clear descriptions of body movements, head and feet position and weight distribution.

A really terrific manual.

If you're a young cricketer learning to bat AND ARE PREPARED TO PUT THE PRACTICE IN, then buy this book. Practice with tennis balls, lots of 'em. When you're tired of practicing, do some more.
If you're a coach, the photographs and coaching points are an excellent reference to come back to or use as visual aids. Practice makes permanent, not perfect, and this book gives clear, easily referenced guidance on getting the correct form for batting fundamentals and each individual stroke.
It may not be the most stylish looking piece of print you'll ever see, but what it contains can be murderously effective in the right hands. I sincerely hope they're yours.
