Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

Over a thousand years ago, the ancient civilisation of Shee left the world of Albia in a giant spaceship to find a new home. Ehen the Grendels attacked them during the flight, they escaped to their new planet's surface, abandoning the Norns and their spaceship in orbit. But the Norns are not alone, and with your help they can thrive. You'll find a host of advanced machines to help you - all of which can be plugged together to make huge automated devices. But watch out for Grendels, a breed of vicious mutants. Remember, even in a virtual world there are real dangers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Creatures 3 rules! 15 Jan. 2005
By indomir
Creatures 3 is much better than Creatures 2 because it is easier to control. In Creatures 2, they usually die of hunger because you can't get them to eat anything. And in the winter Grendels kill them. In Creatures 3, you can lock your Norns away safely. Let the Grendels roam about till they are used to your surrounding, then you can let them hold your finger! Creatures 2 also has an unruly egg supply: if you run out of eggs five times, they refuse to give you anymore. Creatures 3 is similar to the Creatures Gold egg supply, you can never run out. There is also an egg hatching machine that takes 4 seconds to hatch an egg. After four norns have hatched, it closes up. And you can name them easy. And see what Gender it is. Creatures 2 is harder to name, they're usually always sad and it is hard to say what Gender it is.

5.0 out of 5 stars My favourite Creatures game 22 April 2007
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I've been playing Creatures since the original game came out 10 years ago and I've been addicted since day one. Words cannot describe the fascinating complexity of the series. On the surface its just a lot of cute, fun animals in a beautiful world full of interesting gadgets, beautiful plant and animal life and areas to explore. And if you want thats all it ever has to be.

But for the more ambitious player theres so much more to the game. You can breed your creatures to create new breeds, or genetically engineer them if you prefere. You can download thousands (literally) of 3rd party add-ons, new kinds of creatures, new objects, even whole new environments or create your own. Anything you can imagine can be made for this game.

On top of all that it will introduce you to a wide community of wonderful people, always ready to help if anything goes wrong and willing to discuss the game and pretty much anything else.

Creatures 3 is by far my favourite of the series as the controls are a lot more flexible making ofr easier play and the creatures are more intelligent and easier to work with. Downloading the Docking Station add-on (free) is a must though as it allows you to send and recive creatures from other players in game.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great fun 31 May 2013

Not the sort of software you use regularly, but good fun once in a while to see the outcome of your creatures. Shame they never really took this further, as the concept was brilliant, and there's clearly a ton of AI research behind all this.
