I would recommend this player to anyone, dont waste money on an ipod. For £140 you can get a 6gb creative or a 2gb ipod. The battery life seems longer than 12 minutes and the vertical touchpad is great and easy to use. The software is also good, very easy to put music on by either downloads or from cd. I would by some decent headphone though because the ones that come with it arent up to much. It also has an fm radio, organiser, time & date. You can find out how much space is left so all in all this is an amazing mp3 player

This was taken as a replacment for my Philips HDD1620 which was simply awful. Whereas the Philips was all singing and dancing with flashing lights etc this seems almost quite dull by comparison. However, don't let looks deceive you. Creative may not be the trendiest name on the market, but they're certainly one of the longest established as far as makers of quality soundcards and audio devices go.
This is a real breeze. I'd read some negative reviews on here so was a little wary after the Philips disaster, but so far no problems whatsoever. I've even left it outdoors in my freezing car overnight and although it's been very cold it's still been responsive in the morning! Transferring songs is easy and creating playlists a doddle when done through the computer. The sound is perfectly okay using your own custom equaliser settings and battery life is far far better than the HDD1620. The only minor irritation was getting used to the over-sensitive touch controls but this can be turned down through the menu system. And the matt white surface means no fingerprints, marks or smudges! You can even partition a section of the hard disc off for exclusive, non-music data! Best of all, because of the newer photo capable models coming out, I grabbed a real bargain here at a much reduced clearance price! To sum up, it may not be as trendy as the ipod for fashion freaks, but it sure beats it hands down in terms of performance, ease of use and value for money! Updated 5th July 2006; still going strong two months later with no problems at all! I just had to dismantle my boss'es crashed ipod to remove the battery after it went into a permanent hang. Not an easy task, as anyone who's ever had to do it can tell you! Made me kind of glad that my Creative has a removable battery! Edit 27th June 2007; Player suddenly died last Friday and now won't turn on. Tried 'advice' from Creative which didn't work and since it's only just out of its warranty - fourteen months old - they don't want to know. As such, I'm filing a small claim against them in the local court under the UK Sale of Goods Act. There's sufficient evidence online about the fragility of this product to ensure I win my case.

I have just bought one of these in blue a few things to note:-The 20gb version is a hell of a lot bulkier and does not have a removable battery -You would be lucky to to get 12 hours battery life from it -It charges through USB rather than mains (although my froiends with 5 and 20gig versions have a mians charge and you can buy a mains charger) Aside from these points i think this is a really neat player, it offers morefeatures than other equivalent players (ie the new sony) the radio is good and will allow radio and microphone recoding. All the buttons are touch sensitive and the navigation is fast once you get used to it. No click buttons at all, you have to tap things, decide for yourself whether you like that or not. I am really impressed with the player but it isnt perfect
