This is by far the best book on visualization that I have encountered. The authors were internationally recognized authorities on the Western Mysteries and of the Ogdoadic Tradition, a hermetic school of which the keywords are knowledge and regeneration. This excellent work deals with all the important aspects of visualization: realizing that the source of supply is spiritual, the power of music and song, establishing a desire on the astral, mental and spiritual planes. The authors have a knack for explaining things simply and practically. They show you how to create and maintain an image, and how to infuse it with the power of your higher self, and even tell you how to terminate a process of visualization should you no longer want it to proceed. More advanced techniques include the Star Technique, the Multiplication Technique and the Master Method, all of them very easy to carry out. The appendices include wisdom texts to assist learning and motivation, information on prayer and worship (like building an altar), and advice on maintain sound mental and physical health. There are illustrations explaining the stairway to success and the star technique, plus an I Ching hexagram. This is a classic work in the field - perhaps better than Shakti Gawain's classic work - and one I would recommend first to those wishing to explore creative visualization.

I am always on the lookout for books on this subject. I am somewhat acquainted with the Denning and Phillips material and I have been looking foward to reading this one. I wasn't disappointed. The authors bring to this book the same down-to-earth, unassuming and thorough approach as they manage to do even with their most esoteric works.
Gravity is a universal law that we all experience and so is the law of attraction that gives power to visualisation. We could all have something to say about gravity, but only a trained thinker or scientist could dissect and present the subject in its entirety. In the same way, there are many books on creative visualisation, but the "PGCV" by Denning and Phillips stands out because it is authored by scholars, if you will, on the subject.

I have read Shakti Gawain's Creative Visualization a few times and I thought it was THE defining book on this subject. However, having read this book I no longer would recommend beginning your exploration of creative visualisation there, although it is a good book for further exploration. You won't do badly reading this first to give it a proper context.

Denning & Phillips book sets out in a very easy to read fashion many techniques for bringing into being what you want to have in your life. The theoretical aspects are all set out properly and are easily comprehensible. Sometimes the phrasing struck me as being that of a non-native speaker of english. From what I know of the Ogdoaic tradition, which they led for some time, it seems to be mainly Francophile, so perhaps that may explain that.

All in all - thouroughly recommended.
