I'm a technophobe when it comes to video so I was looking for something that was extremely simple to use but that also provided excellent quality clips.

I'd looked at the Flip but as a fan of other Creative products, thought I'd give the Vado a try. And its brilliant.

Once you get the hang of how the controls work, its a no brainer to record a video, play it back and upload it either to your pc or youtube. Just a tip - I couldn't connect the software to my youtube account (it wouldn't recognise my account details) but its easy enough to copy the video to the desktop and upload it from there.

Excellent value for money - cheap, looks great and creates high quality clips.

Bought one for Myself & then another for my parents as they were impressed with mine. Went onto the Creative website as there is a firmware update to download that improves the picture quality etc. Also got a USB mains charger for about £2.00 as you can then charge it anywhere. The battery lasts for a while anyway. For a VGA camera the picture quality is really good and it is a no-brainer to use which is a relief for most people! As an everyday point & shoot video camera it is brill. If you are a professional film maker or you want a camera that works in the dark or want to take distance videos then you will need something more than this but on the whole I would definately recommend this.

One of my Neighbours bought The Vado to a BBQ we had. What a great product!!! He captured all those embarrasing drunken moments of us all. I was so impressed I have bought one myself...along with probably all the other neighbours.

The great things about this product are firstly It's so easy to use. From taking it out of the packaging to shooting my first video it did literally take a couple of minutes. (The Vado comes with a part charged battery- Great Idea)

Product is suprisingly light and alot thinner than I expected which is a definate bonus as my partner now carries it everywhere to video our young son. We already have loads of footage, quality is fine even when hooking it up to the LCD and the screen is good enough to playback and view.

Uploading took a little longer than simply shooting a video but all the software is included, quick set up guide is straight forward and the Vado Central software does the rest to You Tube

If Gordon Ramsey was talking you through the Vado he'd say

record it - view it - upload it ...Done!

    Happy Shooting!!!!

I bought this to record my Grandsons Christening, and I am completely delighted with it. It looks like a mobile phone, so its really easy to carry around in your handbag or pocket, and its so easy to use. The quality of the picture is excellent, indoors and outside. Altogether a brilliant little piece of equipment.

I have used my Creative Vado for about 100 hours of film, much of it on YouTube and you can see the results on the "usenetposts" channel there.

I like the machine so much that I have ordered the new HD one today. That's the reason for the 4 star rating and the title of the review - it's already older technology, already its brother product for 25 pounds more can do a lot more, has 8 giga instead of 2 giga, has more zoom (this has only digital zoom) but whether it will still have the great points I will only know when I get it.

    Great points:

    1. Sound in the voice range is very good. I get good results pointing the cam and something and talking about what the cam is looking at while being behind the cam. Even bootlegging classical music performances gives a fairly listenable result.

    2. Low light performance is better than most cams. The pay-off is described below

    3. Simplicity and reliability - never had a problem with it.

    4. The size means it's always with me so I rarely miss the chance to record something I should be recording. Just need to remember which pocket I left it in!

    Not-so-great points:

    1. The red light that comes on when filming greatly detracts from the ability to use this small device for covert video. Sound recording is still good while in the pocket so it makes a great "bug". The space will last nearly 2 hours when recording sound to a background with little going on, especially if digitally zoomed.

    2. You don't know exactly how much space is left while recording a long piece so it can cut out unexpectedly. To avoid this, make more regular breaks and resume, as it will show the time available when not filming.

    3.

I don't want to be a killjoy, and I think there are some great points to the Vado, namely it's fun, easy to use and carry around, and provides a quick and hassle free way to upload video. I agree with many of the positive points people have made, but...
I was very disapointed with the quality of the video. Don't get me wrong, I wasn't expecting it to be that great for the relatively low price, but I thought it would be of a better quality than my compact camera, and it isn't. I think it's a lot worse. For example in good light, overcast, but bright conditions the skintones on peoples faces were just washed out completely to the degree that it looked as if they were wearing white sunblock on their cheeks and noses! The film is grainier than I expected in general, and the zoom deteriorates the picture so much that it's not really worth using.
I'd give it 2.5 stars based on the price and convenience, but if you can record movie files on your compact camera, I'd suggest you stick with that.
