I bought this after my 4gb Zen Creative gave up the ghost. I looked other players but as I had found the old one very easy to use, and upload music to, I stuck with Creative. However there are good and bad points.
Firsty the good. Good sound and the price is quite competitive. The battery lasts a long time.
Next the bad. The software for use with your PC is contained in the player. The instructions are to connect the two and the player will autmatically down load the software. Not with my laptop it didn't. It just doesn't recognise it. So, I have to load a cd onto Windows Media Player, and then attempt to rip this onto the player. As another reviewer found this is difficult and when you are succesful in doing so, you have to stop it as soon as it is finished, or the player continues to take everything it can from the library.
Next the size. The old Zen is a reasonable size and having got familiar with it over a couple of years, I could virtually operate it by touch without looking. Now I haven't got particularly large fingers but the buttons are small and difficult to access.
It is slow to respond to the controls, which is frustrating.
So, for an 8 gb player the price is OK, but not brilliant to operate. You pays your money and you takes your chance.

I am very impressed with this mp3 player.It is very easy to use without having to install Creatives own software.I just plugged it in and dragged and dropped my music on to it in a couple of minutes.The audio and player settings were very easy to customize to my taste and I can find everything I need easily.When I read previous reviews for this player I found most of them to be very informative and helpful except for one thing,none of them mentioned the bookmark function.As a keen podcast listener this was an essential feature for me and I really had to search for this information.The main reason I am writing this review is to help others who need to listen to longer mp3 files.So here it is,the Creative Zen X-Fi style mp3 player has ten bookmarks which are easy to use and means you can have up to ten podcasts on the go at any time,more than enough for most peoples needs.This function plus the great sound quality make this a 5 star product.

this player is awesome, enough said. if anyone has had an x fi or a zen then this is familiar territory. this thing is lightweight, good build, colourful interface, which is also easy as hell to use. i would recommend this to anyone looking for a great simple mp3 player. and its loud...very loud :D

Complete waste of money
