Less than half an inch thick, and about 2 by two-and-a half-inches in the other dimension, it weighs very little and can be placed in any pocket, handbag or anything else, it will play MP3, WAV and WMa audio files. It also has an FM radio built in and uses a colour touch screen for control and information presentation.
The sound quality is very good but unfortunately for me the provided earphones are of a type that will never stay in-place for me. ALthough the device body is white, the earphones are black and very similar to those provided by the fruity alternative, although the in-ear portions are foam covered for better comfort. using a standard 3.5mm connector, any other earphone could be used if you are in the same position as myself.
Offering a similar capacity as the fruity alternative, although possibly slightly more bulky, and at a much friendlier price point, it therefore provides a more realistic alternative without being locked in to buying your music from a single source.
The data lead is a few inches long, but is quite long enough. Also used for charging the device from a PC's USB port, a process taking about 2 1/2 to 3 hours for the initial charge and probably a little more thereafter.
Good value for the price and recommended.

I bought this as I refuse to spend money on vapourware with an apple logo on it. This little beast does more than enough, and for the money it is very good. Audio is good, and the features are more than adequate. It's not perfect, but it does what its supposed to do!
I do have a few quibbles with it, which are not major, but here's my take on it:
* Screen is touch operated. It seems to pick up all the outer edges where your fingers will touch when holding it - making it unresponsive. Can be annoying - scrolling sometimes is hap-hazard or sporadic at best, but usually due to how you hold it
* micro SD card access is interesting - it does sometimes work, but I wouldn't rely on it. The device doesn't include it as part of its memory, it uses it as external storage, which you have to browse through. initially, this means it has to read it first - which can take for ever. I've also noticed it run itself flat doing this - i.e. not turn off
* If you import corrupt mp3 files MANUALLY, it can cause the device to lock up. However, there is no indication as to what the problem actually was. It is BEST to use Windows Media player or its equivalent - which will stop this from happening. I have also got it working through Linux with no issues either, including the SD card!
* Bluetooth audio doesn't revert to the device you had set up previously - i.e. if it was working with BT headphones, and turn off - it won't revert to that, you have to go through the settings to re-activate it. Annoyingly it does revert to the last played song where you left off!
PLUS POINTS
===========
* Bluetooth audio is excellent, in fact its all that I use with it. I use some BT headphones that support multi pairing, and can listen and switch to phone no problem. The Zen sounds excellent on my cans with no EQ.
* Random play - this is quite good, called the DJ - where you can have album of the day or random songs. I'm not sure how "random" it is though, as it seems to play the same selection! I think the random selection is made each time changes are made? Still useful though and will provide a lot of tireless listening!
* Battery life - I haven't actually managed to run it flat yet! I use it whilst at work, and it can go days without a charge.
* Size and portability - I think this is hard to beat. It is well constructed with integral SD slot cover and recessed sockets.
* Value for money - I doubt you'd get much better for less. The 8GB version is the one to have though, you'd soon fill 4, although be aware that MP3's are far more economical on space than iPod flac files. One tends to be more selective with what you put on there - which maximises it's storage potential.
It also does the following:
* Audio recorder
* Video playback
* Photo viewer
I haven't used these, and don't really need them - but they are there, and could be useful.

I'd say for the money this is very good. As a good, cheap, MP3 player it's more than adequate. I would recommend it.

Having been a creative fan for sometime,when i heard there was a bluetooth mp3 coming i thought it would be the perfect match for my creative d100 bluetooth speakers.But i was very disappointed after waiting weeks for this to arrive.The concept of this machine is great but it's just to fiddly,the touchscreen is slow to operate and the menu button just wouldn't work at all would have been better with a joystick like the zen v. When you do eventually get it paired to a bluetooth device it looses the connection when you turn it off(although after reading other reviews there is a firmware update to help this). The frustration just got too much so i sent it back.i'll wait and see if there next version is any better or if someone else comes out with a better machine.
