DAB digital radio is a new way of broadcasting radio via a network of terrestrial transmitters. It provides listeners with more choice and information delivered in crystal clear, crackle-free sound quality.
The technology allows the receiver to lock on to the strongest signal it can find. With DAB digital stations there are no frequencies to remember, and sets are tuned by station name, so there's no retuning on the move.
Digital radio operation is made up of a single block of frequencies called a multiplex. Each multiplex works within a frequency spectrum, such as Band III for DAB broadcasts. If you buy a receiver in the UK it will be designed to pick up DAB signals on Band III only. You will receive only those stations within your transmission area.
Each DAB broadcaster (or multiplex operator) also provides text and audio data services. Some programmes are supported by Dynamic Label Segments (DLS). This is data which you can read as scrolling text on your DAB radio display. Some stations transmit the latest news, travel, and weather, what's on now and next, website addresses and phone numbers.

Well I purchased this on a whim (had Amazon voucher running out and needed to spend it) and really glad I did! I would have liked to have given this 4.5 stars as what I wanted it to do it does really well.
I would describe it as your typical radio alarm clock but with DAB, OK it's got bass/trebal and some presets, but nothing too fancy. But if you're like me that's fine, you don't want it fancy, what I wanted was a stylish, easy to use DAB radio with good sound. Which is exactly what I got! It's a nice little unit, well laid out and the sound quality, as with most Creative products I have used, is very good. It has a good crsip bassy sound that fills the room very well for a small unit. I have a friend with a cheapish DAB radio which has the standard small radio speaker, so the extra sound quality you get with DAB is wasted....what's the point? This unit however did not disapoint, and the fact it has two speakers makes a big difference. The aux in feature is also a nice useful touch for a base level unit.....although this does lead onto why not 5 stars... Why not battery backup? I wouldn't use it much but adding this so the unit was portable would have been v handy, especially in combination with the aux port and a portable MP3 player, you'd have yourself an excelent portable stereo or laptop speakers! Also although not a bad thing to have FM as well, i can't really see when I'll use it. Maybe LW would have been better (Test Match Special anyone!) That said these are little niggles, what the unit says it does it does excellently, so if you like the description then buy this unit!

I bought this radio as a replacement for my old radio alarm and I'm not disappointed. The setup was simple, I can pick a good number of stations, even with the antenna not extended and the sound quality is brilliant for the size of the unit. Just a few small gripes: even though the display dims on standby it is still very bright at night, when the alarm goes off it no longer shows the time (just 'alarm on') and the seperate power adaptor is a bit of a pain. But for the price you can't complain.

Arrived a week before scheduled (do Amazon do this on purpose?) and it is every bit as good as the other reviewers have said it is.
Easy to set up, pleasing aesthetically, high quality crystal clear sound on DAB and FM, compact size without being fiddly, and a good crisp clear display. It took me a couple of goes to set the alarm up properly, but that's my deficiency, not the radio's. Once you've got the hang of it, it's easy.
