I wanted the card for both games and music.
After reading about problems with drivers and latency in some games on the Asus, I decided to play it safe and go for the Creative.
To be fair they have also had a bad rap for lack of / bad driver upgrades for their older cards and windows 7.
However I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt, as the Titanium HD has been designed from the ground up for windows 7.
Installed this on my Asus Sabertooth X58, no problems at all.
Plugged in my Sennheiser HD 650 headphones and a Pro-Ject Head Box II headphone amp, and all I can say is it makes the onboard sound card sound like a tin can ! It really is that night and day.
The detail is amazing, rich, warm and with a punchy base without booming. Trust me, you will want to listen to all your music collection again and again! Just make sure it's a lossless format to take full advantage of the card.
In response to some of the other reviews, there is an installation CD in the orange box with the cables and booklet, not that you need it.
Top tip, only install the drivers and audio control panel, It has most if not all of the controls most will need, in a simple bloat free interface.
Anyway, I play some games, and listen to a lot of music on my PC. This card sounds awesome. I've got average PC speakers (Creative again) but excellent Bose headphones. It sounds brilliant on both. I read somewhere that someone was re-listening to tracks because they were hearing things for the first time. I guarantee that that's true. I've only had this a week and I'm hearing so much more in my music. It's pricey though but as the saying goes, you get what you pay for. I do like this card. Musical fidelity and sound stage are brilliant. I only wish I could compare it with my ears against the ASUS Xonar. I'm a tight Scot but I doubt I'll ever regret paying for this.
