About the Author
Chantal Saunders studied sculpture before becoming a certified welder and pipe fitter in 1994. After a two-year stint as an apprentice with two professional jewellers, she is currently a member of the Mountain Metalsmiths' Association, teaches chain-making workshops and maintains a website at www.metalsplendor.com.

A range of design ideas for a craftsperson wishing to start making sterling silver chains - good range of ideas, well photographed. The instructions for some of the projects are not as clear as they might be and sizes given for some of the silver wire identified in the text are not all available in the UK.

I bought this book as I was about to embark on making my first chain and wanted some help with ideas. My teacher had this book so I got a chance to look at it before I bought it and was so impressed with it I bought a copy for myself. I wanted this book more for ideas on what chain to design than for instructions on how to and from that perspective it delivers 100%. There are some great ideas and makes you think about chains in a different way. It was just what I needed and for that I would definately recommend it. In terms of the sizes commented on by the other reviewer, it's true the sizes aren't in british convention but that's not uncommon and it's easy enough to convert them (thank you internet!). For anyone setting out on their first chain I would definately recommend it.

Lovely book , inspiring designs, a bit different from basic chain making, have not tried any of the chains yet but i'm still on the basics of chain making , looking forward to trying some of the fabulous chains in this book . probably not a beginners book.
