About the Author

Gail Harker studied art in both Canada and Scotland, and qualified for the Senior Award of Licentiateship (LCGI) given by the City and Guilds of London Institute. She teaches several City and Guilds embroidery courses and is an examiner for them. She founded and operates the Gail Harker Creative Studies Center in Oak Harbour, Washington, USA and pioneered the introduction of the first City and Guilds Creative Studies Centres in Washington State, California and Canada. She is the author of Embroidery Skills: Machine Embroidery, Fairy Tale Quilts and Embroidery and Christmas Stitches and Tassel Making.

WEll worth buying as a reference book. It describes all the main techniques of machine embroidery very clearly. It is well illustrated and easy to follow. It is full of intersting ideas concerning design and the use of unusual materials.

This beautifully illustrated book is a delight to hold. You will find yourself dipping into it time and time again. Not only are the instructions clear and concise, but the illustrations are an inspiration in themselves.

This is a great book for both the beginner and improver, with easy to follow design ideas. There is a section on fabrics and threads, design ideas and stitch techniques. This is followed by step by step instructions with lovely illustrations. Highly recommended.
