A Fabulous book!! 29 Oct 2010
Format:Paperback
This book arrived this morning and I must say how impressed I am with it.

It is a very comprehensive and practical book.
It starts with a very brief account of the history of lampwork beads which is followed by chapters on tools, workplace and glass.

It goes on to explain how to make numerous bead shapes with step by step colour photos and then how to apply decorative techniques again with full colour step by step photos.

Joan Gordon does not leave you there but shows you how to make beautiful jewellery out of your beads.

What I particularly like is that at the beginning of the book there is a gallery of beautiful beads made by well known artists and at the end of the book unlike other books there is a step by step explanation of how these beads are made!

If you have an interest in lampworking this book is a must for your collection.

About time we had a UK lampwork book! This one is pretty comprehensive for beginners and intermediates and has some great recipes by well known beadmakers as well as lots and lots of techniques with well illustrated instructions. Hats off to Joan for pulling this book together - a useful resource for lampworkers at all levels.
