Creative Labs MuVo 64MB USB Memory and MP3 Player

- I like MuVo because is very small and light
- I use MuVo in walk and travel
- With 64 Mb memory you can have about 12 quality tracks
- Is very fast booting
- Is very fast to copy files from one computer to another
- You can repeat tracks

- Sometimes i got a problem to turn on
- You need to remember tracks order when you whant to select a specific track (you don't have display)
- You only have 64 Mb or 128 Mb options
- You can't upgrade firmware to play another formats

Conclusion:
For me is a good choice to listen quality music when i go to walk or running. I also use MuVo to copy files from notebook to desktop computer.

There is no screen giving details of current track (but that doesn't really bother me) and there isno random order function (the order files are played is dictated by their directory order on the memory stick.)

No drivers are needed for recent versions of windows except 98/98SE. Installation in windows 98 is simple, as long as you don't have any other USB storage devices (or have ever used one on your PC) in which case the installer may crash and get itself in a major mess requiring manual registry editing to correct.

The sound quality is good, although at extremely quiet points some strange non volume-dependant background noise is noticeable. This is not at all noticeable 99% of the time, though. The player can go much louder than i require it to, increments are about right. The minimum volume level is fine, but i'm surprised it can't go lower before cutting off completely.

Connecting the player to my PC speakers gave very good sound quality, which makes me think that the headphones aren't exceptionally good, but they certainly aren't awful - they are miles better than other in the ear headphones that i have.

The size of the player is good, and it feels pretty well built. The two halves can be hard to seperate if your hands are at all sweaty, but at least that means they won't just come apart during use.

My biggest dissapointment is that the player can only store 60.4Mb of music or data files. I think the other 4Mb are taken up by files used by the player. The memory isn't upgradeable.

Using a good codec to encode your music (eg MS WMA format) can allow you to get two complete medium to long albums into that.

The player's firmware is not upgradeable.

Battery life is surprisingly good for one AAA. I'm using NiMH rechargables which work fine.

Plugging the unit into the back of a desktop is a bit of a hassle, and may require unplugging other USB items if the ports are close together, but if you have a USB hub on your desk it's easy.

This MP3 Player is compact (the size of a lighter), has great sound, long battery life (one AAA battery lasts about 6-7 hours), easy to use and is robust. I use it for jogging and it certainly can take a knock or two. On the downside this player is not upgradeable. If 64MB (13-15 WMA files approx) is enough for you then I would recommend you buy it.
