5.0 out of 5 stars Very simple and very good. 2 Jun 2002
By A Customer
Since upgrading to Xp I've had nothing but trouble with my cheap Ambient internal modem. I finally got around to buying this Modem Blaster and it is excellent.
It couldn't have been easier to install the software due to the simple and clear instructions given, while attaching the modem was just a case of plugging a USB lead in. The connection speed is always between 46 and 48 kbps a vast improvement on the 33kbps I was lucky to get with my old one.The LED display flashes reassuringly to let you know that something is happening when waiting for a download to begin and it's sleek sexy design will compliment any net-junkie's desk.
I cannot comment on it's V92 properties as my ISP doesn't support it (does anyone's?)
So ditch that poorly performing budget modem of yours and splash out on this keenly priced great performing fit bit of kit.

1.0 out of 5 stars Severe installation problems with Windows 2000 11 Feb 2004
I bought this modem 2 weeks ago and despite about a dozen attempts to install it, have been unable to make it work under windows 2000 pro, which is a real surprise as this should be easy. Plug and play does see it at first and attempts to install the drivers but the first 8 or 9 times that they installed, they clearly didn't install correctly as although Device Manager listed the modem as being there, any attempt to query it resulted in an instant black screen and a reboot of the PC. Eventually after much muffled swearing and at least 2 re-service-pack installations (it needs a minimum of SP3 by the way) I managed to get this modem to finally install and on the right COM port too. It'll dial out as well, but then I find that it randomly causes my PC to reboot when in use - it can happen at any time without warning and gives you no entries in the event viewer to help out either - the longest it's stayed online for so far is 10 minutes which is no use to man nor beast. I've heard that it works fine under XP but under 2000 it's pants - I wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy. I must say that the creative labs tech support guys have tried to be helpful, but they haven't come up with anything that I haven't already tried, including installing it on a second PC, so this one is on it's way back for a refund, Mr Amazon. Can you make sure you put a public health warning on it while you at it? Ta very much.

1.0 out of 5 stars Do NOT buy this product!!! 5 Jun 2003

I bought this product after reading the reviews from the other customers expecting the good quality and value normally associated with Creative. I have been very disappointed with it. It manages to connect to the internet fine first time but is so heavily reliant on the CPU, even moving windows around becomes impossible for most of the time (even when it no data is being downloaded). I have a reasonably powerful computer of which the CPU is barely used for much of the time when not connected to the net so isn't because of that. Buy at your own risk!

5.0 out of 5 stars the knight-rider of modems 5 Mar 2003
I bought this modem on the strength of the other customer reviews as much as for the household name that Creative has come to be known as.
Installation was a breeze - a short painless one at that - and the data rates, thus far, are indeed better than my previous PCI
If this is the way you choose to access the net, then look no further than this bit of 'KIT'..

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent 12 Jun 2002
Our old modem kept on cutting out but this one is great! It is very easy to setup and install on the computer and the best modem we have owned, it is also good and fast. If you want a reliable modem try this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good product at a good price 13 Aug 2003

I am entirely satisfied with this modem. It configured under XP Pro automatically, which is always a relief.
My PC is a year-old HP laptop with a 1.6Ghz P4M processor, so not exactly the latest kit, but I do not find that the modem places an excessive load on the CPU. I can use other programmes during downloads, no problem at all.
Other purchasers should remember that modem phone leads are often not interchangeable. Use the one in the box and you won't get caught out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Creative Modem Blaster 3 Feb 2003
Having suffered from slow connections for too long and not being able to justify the monthly costs of Broadband I decided to invest in this product. It is one of the best things I have done.
It took longer to unpack the box than it did to install and it has increased my speed from the upper 30s to almost 50kb.
I just wish it wasn't so good looking, then I would get more work done instead of staring at it.
Well worth the money spent.
