This was an excellent product under XP and even Vista, but try as I might I just cannot get it to function properly after I moved to 64-bit Win7, with music being crackly and erratic. Even with downloading the recommended drivers from Creative and tweaking everything in the software the problems remain.
I don't know if it's Win7 or a 64-bit issue but I've reverted to the on-board sound, a pity because I always held this product in high regard before.

A basic audio card. Sounblaster card performance as expected, reliable rather than inspired. Absence of helpful software disappointing - an opportunity missed by Creative Labs. We have installed Soundblaster cards in most of our PCs (about 20). Some of the cards have been in 3 PCs. A reliably good product.

When I brought a 5.1 Sound System to link to my PC, stupid me forgot to get a sound card for it to work, so after a quick trip to PCWorld, This is what i came out with, This is Farley priced compared to its alternatives, i brought this as although I'm using it with a 5.1 sound system, it will go up to 7.1 in case I upgrade the speakers again in the future, This is a good PCI Card although i did have to mess around with the settings to get sound out of all 5 speakers when playing music, but no major problems so i would happily recommend this if someone asked for a SoundBlaster Sound Card on a Budget.
