I've used a Logitech X-530 5.1 Speaker Setup for the last two years, but as I have a shared house and mostly use them for listening to music at my desk (as opposed to something that requires the entire room to vibrate, like watching a loud movie), I decided to try a 2.0 setup.

PROS:
I was initially hesitant, thinking I'd lose some of the immersion and quality that you get from 5.1, but am so glad I bought these, as they are more than capable of doing everything I could need them to do (from a low-level volume listening to music, to a high-level sitting on my bed watching movies). The quality is crystal clear.

Calling these 2.0 speakers does not do them justice, as they are superior to a lot of 5.1 systems, and still capable of delivering a considerable bass. Larger than I expected (they are 12" high), but this is just a sign of how much good stuff is packed in there. Highly recommended.

CONS:
Very few, but they are worth mentioning:

1) When you receive the box, you will immediately notice how heavy it is. The majority of this weight is not the speakers; it's the AC Adapter - the thing weighs a ton!
Now, that in itself shouldn't be a problem, but the way it has been designed means that - while the cable length from the right speaker to the plug socket is fine - the length from the speaker to the AC Adapter is very, very short. Essentially this means that the AC Adapter will likely have to sit on your desk, and not the floor. I have tucked mine behind my monitor.

2) As with most speakers, they are annoyingly designed with the assumption that your computer is on the right-hand side of your desk. If it isn't, you may not have much flexibility in positioning your right speaker.

3) More of a tip than a criticism.

I purchased these a few months back and am very happy with the mid and high range of these speakers but am somewhat mystified at the "bass" that some of the other reviews lead you to belive. Dont get me wrong - the sound is good, but these definatly need a sub to get more impact. If you are going to buy these expecting "bass" (such as in rnb/hiphop music) get a sub too.

My brother has had a pair of Creative Gigaworks T20's for a while now and they really are fantastic......so in true competitive brother style (!) I've trumped him and bought these bigger versions........and WOW they are fantastic! The music separation is really good and its fair to say that Creative have really done their homework when it comes to getting great sound from small packages. How these produce such deep bass from a relatively small package is a mystery - these clearly follow in the footsteps of the smaller T20's and really pack a punch on the low level bass tones. The high frequencies and mid-range are very clear and really blend superbly with the bass to bring together a fantastic overall sound. Great sound for watching DVD's as well - I saw War of The Worlds at the weekend - the sound of the Tripods romping through the cities really sent a chill down my spine....! So its fair to say I'm 'double happy' with these - not only am I now enjoying great music and videos from my PC, but I also have very envious brother.......!!

I have spent a lot of time find some good speakers that work well with my ipod. Most Ipod docking systems do not have EQ so no sound adjustment at all possible & the ipod is not blessed with a user controlable eq setting which is bizarre IMHO..

I have looked at the igroove, the bose dock, altec lansing, all ok but lack something to me. The T40's are just superb. Brought my ipod alive so I no longer regret getting ipod to replace my iriver h340.

Make sure your mp3's are 320kbs and hear the quality with these T40's. Very very good for the money!!

i bought a pair of these to replace my crackly I-Trigue 2200s, and i'm just blown away by their performance. they're very easy to plug in and set up, but if you have a high desk and a CRT monitor, you could be in trouble, as the length of cable from the large transformer to the right speaker is quite short, and the transformer sends any CRT monitor into a fit of wobbles.

Sound is incredible. After the bass-less 2200s, anything would have been better, but these really are special. Sound is very rich and it only took a few tweaks with the Windows Media Player SRS effects settings to get the perfect sound. controls on the front make it very easy to adjust the Bass and Treble, but the on/off switch has been pushed round the back. this is fine but would make it awkward is the speakers are against a wall.

Size is something else they are not short of. they might look small on the pictures, but each speaker is around 33cm tall including the stand, and 11cm wide. If you have a small desk, think about this before buying.

Overall I am very happy with them. They sound fantastic and if the size isn't a problem, go for them! It was mad even better because they came two days earlier than predicted, even with free delivery!

I bought these speakers to replace the internal speakers on my Sony 32D3000 TV, and they do the job admirably... These speakers make both my TV viewing and XBox playing so much more involved... Awesome!

Whilst I can't deny that compared to a dedicated 2.1+ setup there is a lack of bass, on merit these are an awesome upgrade to stock speakers in even decent LCD TVs...

Well recommended by me!!
