The USB Fatal1ty Gaming Headset is of average/good quality, as it provides good sound quality as well as a working microphone and confortable over-earpieces.
However, and I would like to point out that some of the issues might not apply to most of the persons reading this review, as I am to 75% deaf on both ears and therefore have certain special needs when it comes to audio devices.
Also, I will not be able to provide feedback on how well you hear rouges stalking behind you in world of warcraft, as the headset cannot make up for my ears.
(++) The Microphone's noise reduction is REALLY good. Combined with voice activation on Teamspeak3 it is a pleasure that I almost never have to mute the mic because I am eating, drinking or make any form of disruptive noise- my previous headset, the Sharkoon Majestic III had been a lot less sensible when it came to filtering out background noise.
(++) As for the volume of the Headset, I must say I am pleased to see that with Windows 7/XP I can boost up the max. Volume to +20DzB of standard which actually IS loud enough to hear even the quietest youtube videos; a problem I have always encountered with previous headsets.
(+) The headsets comfort is overall pleasing, it doesn't feel sweaty and it not too tight or loose, I am fine with it.
(-) The thing that really bothers me with this headset is the dominance of the bass tones. It is just too much. Watching movies or videos is fairly cool, but when I listen to music, I always have my equalizers ready to balance out the huge amount of bass that comes in. This is the reason whoy I would give this product 3/5, but as I am aware that I have always been more comfortable around headsets of which people complain not having too much bass, I guess it is down to the deafness and therefore a minus point for me but not necessarily for everyone.
(--) Wearing the headset for more than 8 hours though is a real torture; the headdache is not as bad as my ears aching because the shape of the headset, which is comforting in the first hours, suddenly becomes really uncomfortable, mainly because it is too tight after that many hours. So if you use this headset excessively, make sure to put the odd 1 hour break in.
I wouldn't buy it a second time, but I will use it until it has done its years.
