I bought these primarily for the apt-X support which is a relatively new Bluetooth audio Codec supported by a handful of devices (and growing). It supposedly gives near CD level quality from the compressions/decompression process that is used over bluetooth.

I paired these with a Samsung Galaxy S3 (which supports apt-X) and the sound was really very good, comparable the Sennheiser wired earbud style headphones I have been using over the past couple of years. The sound is especially impressive when you tweak the output via the music player EQ on the source device to tailor to particular genres/tastes.

The reason I could only give 3 stars is that these were very uncomfortable to wear for long periods, I had to re-adjust or take a break after just 15-20 minutes of listening. The issue is twofold, firstly the headband has no padding of any kind and I was conscious of this, secondly, they fit very tight to the ears with no adjustment available - I have a medium sized head, but these were just too tight and uncomfortable for any prolonged listening.

I really like the sound and styling of the Creative apt-X range so I decided to return these and buy the WP-350 model (which were half the RRP at the time of writing this review - £46. I am very glad I did. The sound quality is comparable - the 450's maybe had a little more 'punch' but it is marginal - and these are so much more comfortable in comparison and £20 cheaper !!

Since getting my Creative WP-350 headphones (the next model down to these) last year I have made good use of them. The ease with which a Bluetooth connection can be set up is great, and the usability makes the difference between listening to music and simply not bothering. In particular the fact that there aren't any trailing wires is a bonus for me as they always seemed to tangle up. One downside that seems to be common on Bluetooth headphones is that they can only be paired with one device at a time, so if you want to use it with a laptop then a mobile for instance, you'd have to re-establish a pairing. It's not a long winded process, but can be annoying if you do it a lot.

These WP-450 headphones are just as useful as their cheaper siblings but with added style - a smart mix of black and chrome, plus some nice design work has produced a good looking set of headphones. They're pretty comfortable to wear too, even for extended periods although after a few hours I find I need a break from any headphones, personally. They are light in weight which means they don't slip around too much when you move your head, and when you want to store them they have a folding action so they take up less space. They also feature a hidden microphone which is great for taking or making calls when you're hooked up to a mobile phone and it's surprisingly effective too, unless you're in a very noisy area. The controls are all placed intuitively on the earpieces so that you needn't remove them to skip track or change the volume etc.

Obviously, the most important consideration with headphones is how well they sound, and these are pretty good. To be honest I did expect a slightly better sound from them, although they are pleasant to listen to in most cases.

These headphones have obviously had a lot of money/resources spent on the comfort, look and fit; when compared to the WP-350 they are slimmer, and have a more expensive look to them. There is firmer compression of the headphones over the ears and these do not need to be accurately placed over the ear as are pad based not cup. They are thus quick to put on and off. As they also fold up they are smaller to store than those were. They come with a small soft bag for providing dust protection. And a cable to charge them up by using USB to your computer.

The blue tooth was easy to set up and I did not need to read the instructions to work it out.

The sound is a bit disappointing. It sounds a bit dead/flat, not bright. I tried the various graphic equaliser type controls for different styles of music listening experience and though some increased the amount of treble, (the default is bass heavy), this did not help much and the sound still lacked excitement.

I compared the volume of it to the WP-350 by switching between them and the result was interesting - it is about 2 notches of volume from my mobile phone louder. This increased volume might be useful if you have a mobile which is not very loud. I think I know why it is louder - the WP-350 does not fit very snugly compared and when I manually pressed it against my ears it was the same loudness.

To sum up, I was disappointed by these and though they are well fitting and practical to store and good looking, the sound quality could have been better.

I gave this a 5 stars because of the brilliant audio playback, which I did not expect from wireless headphones and the fact that you can move around freely while listening to songs on the go. Also there is no need to fiddle with wires which is a massive benefit. I'd definitely recommend this to everyone who is looking for the right pair of Bluetooth headphones, as they are comfortable, with high definition sound and you can listen from several metres away.
