All too often teachers with pupils who have English as a additional language, concentrate on a brief induction then move swiftly onto acquisition of academic English, forgetting that our pupils need to acquire social fluency as a precursor to this. This book provides some really simple ideas for working with Primary school pupils focusing on the development of social fluency( BICS- Basic Interpersonal Communication. It also takes the 'mystic' out of teaching pupils with EAL, and supports teacher understanding.

2.0 out of 5 stars EAL 17 Dec 2012

I wanted a book to give me ideas for helping children with English as an additional language. I found this book to be quite American which didn't really relate to English type activities. I need to read the information more carefully in future before purchasing. Essentially not what I was looking for but the resource was in perfect condition.
