For somebody relatively new to the world of Polymer clay this book is a little gem. The instructions for each mini project are easy to follow and the pictures give you the detail that you need to see to get it right (for a beginner anyway!). I followed the instructions for the deermouse fully expecting to end up with a complete mess and was genuinely pleased with the result. It turned out very much like the one in the book. Buy this book if you want to start out because you will not be disappointed with the results. I imagine for the more experienced out there they will have covered most of the points covered already. I am sure though that even they will be able to gain some pointers.

Outstanding introduction to making 3D models in Polymer Clay. Katherine Dewey begins by introducing us to the different types of polymer clay and their properties - saving the beginner a lot of time and money in choosing the right clay. She then explains what tools you will need and how to make them, which keeps start up costs down even more. Dewey also guides you through the scary stuff like how to make armatures and what paints to use.

The brilliance of this book lies in the step by step lessons for modelling each project. The images are clear and accompanied by detailed text. She even includes handy diagrams to show how the clay pieces will be pieced together.

The projects include; Deer Mouse, Seal, Basset Hound, Fawn, Black Bear, Bull Frog, Bluebird, Siamese Kitten, Fox and Rabbits.

Finally she explains how to alter size, position and how to mount them on a polymer clay plinth.

In short, achieving professional looking pieces of art are achievable with this fantastic guide. This is a book to treasure for animal modelling enthusiasts.
