Product Description

Product Description

Ice cream is a versatile pudding, being enjoyed on its own, flavoured with exotic fruits, spices and wine. This title offers a wide variety of recipes and tells you everything you need to know about producing delicious desserts that come straight from the freezer. It includes classics such as traditional vanilla ice cream and fresh fruit sorbets but also ventures onto more intriguing styles and flavours such as the sophisticated zabaglione semi freddo and an indulgent baked Alaska. The health chapter combines taste with the calorie counter in recipes like peach freezes and a honey yoghurt and cinnamon ice cream.

Just what I wanted - a straightforward, no-frills source of delicious recipes, for machines or not. Simple to adventurous (yet still easy to follow, it seems so effortless I doubt I'll ever buy ice cream again), plus some pudding recipes - I can't wait to try the Lemon Meringue Pie Baked Alaska - and recipes for accompaniments such as Ratafia biscuits, Butterscotch sauce, and Butter Tuiles. And there's a Nigella recommendation - this will immediately appeal to us budding Goddesses. Perhaps a few more pictures - on those pages with none at all, but most are scattered on pages elsewhere. This book even feels nice! I shall now be trawling the Internet to source an additional bowl for my ice cream machine - so that I don't have to wait 24 hours between batches. Highly recommended!

There are bigger, more colourful, more flashy ice cream books out there but this is an incredibly useful little book and would definitely be my prefered buy. I've made about a dozen recipes, and all have worked very well. It also gives formulas for adapting to other fruits e.g. sorbet recipes that can be used for redcurrants, blackcurrants or raspberries. And the no churn lemon icecream really is *quite* devastating. Very much recommended....

Second copy of this I have bought, which was delivered straight to a friend. She says she is enjoying it and using a lot of the recipes, as we have. Good "how to" plus mouth watering recipes. A Hit!
