2.0 out of 5 stars X-press or de-railed? X-Press Printer reviewed, 24 Nov 2003
By A Customer
Durability:1.0 out of 5 stars Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars Educational:2.0 out of 5 stars
As my daughter loves any kind of stationery stuff, I anticipated that the X-Press printer would be ideal for her when creating mini-magazines, messages to friends etc. The idea of 'type-setting' the message was a good one in theory, with the children putting their chosen message in letter by letter before printing. However the product in practice was a real disappointment. The letters (only upper case, except for one or two pre-printed 'merry christmas'-type messages) were very small and fiddly and would not stay in the plastic framework, especially at the point of placing it in the machine. The process took far too long (my daughter handed it to me to solve)and worked less than satisfactorily. Having gone to all that trouble, the template did not ink well at all even after several repetitions of the inking button, and the result was a bare assortment of unevenly printed, in parts unprinted, little messages. Not bad for the '70s, maybe: but amaturish and poor value today. Steer clear of this one.
