Develop your toddler's creativity with the Crayola Mini Kids Dough Set. Part of the Mini Kids range, this set is suitable for children aged two years and above, and is designed with free play and simplicity in mind.
The kit, which is contained in a plastic, zipped bag measuring roughly 20cm (8in) x 14cm (5.5in) x 9cm (3.5in) includes five pots of dough (in the tester's set: green, red, blue, yellow and orange, though colours may vary); four simply shaped plastic cutters (elephant, hippo, star, and teddy bear); a white, plastic rolling tool, a red, plastic cutting tool, and a wipe-clean plastic play mat measuring roughly 47cm (18.5in) x 39 cm (15.5 in) that is covered in a bright, joyful scene featuring various animals.
The idea is that children squeeze, shape, press, cut and mould their way to various creations. A colourful suggestion sheet, also included, features a multi-coloured caterpillar, a spotty star and a happy snail, amongs others, all of which could be moulded with the dough. It also has a very simple key suggesting what further colours can be made by mixing the doughs together.
The Mini Kids range from Crayola is specifically aimed at the youngest of children to encourage creativity from the earliest age. All materials are perfectly safe and suitable for toddlers and will not only encourage creativity, but will also aid imaginative play, colour recognition, hand-to-eye co-ordination and can help with colour mixing and shape recognition at a more advanced stage. The clear plastic bag (complete with handle) which holds the kit makes a great storage bag and as long as the lids are replaced on the pots, will ensure the kit stays fresh for future use.
This is a lovely starter craft set for children aged two years and above, and a great way to encourage development and learning. --Lucie Naylor
