Bought my 2 yr old son these pens with the little car storage case, they looked really attractive. My son is really dexterous with pens and crayons and I thought that he would love these. Despite him trying every so often to master the technique, his hands are too little, and frustratingly for him, you have to have the angle spot on (i.e. vertical to the paper)for the pens to work. We are both really disappointed as they were quite expensive. Not a good product for little ones.

Too difficult to use 18 May 2008

Durability:    Educational:    Fun:
I bought these for my 20 month daughter, who already uses normal crayons and pencils quite happily. I thought these might be a fun alternative, however although my little girl was very excited in these when she saw them, she quickly lost interest as they are just too difficult to use properly.
The felt tip is just a small area which is not raised, on the top of the animal, and the pen has to be turned upside down and be exactly perpendicular to the paper to work. This is a really poor design, and a complete waste of money - don't bother!

My son is nearly two and loves to scribble and splat the ends of pens onto the paper. However, he has eaten the nibs of almost all my daughter's pens, snapped her pencils and chewed her crayons. These pens are fantastic. They are great for splatting as they make an ink splat and he has no trouble getting them to work. My only concern is that he can lob them some distance as they are quite heavy and if he manages to hit you they hurt!!!! I think these pens are a great product for little monsters!

My 2yr old loves this and has spent ages colouring in or scrawling on pieces of paper. Shame they arent refill type cos it is expensive to keep replacing them.

Terrible product
I bought this product for my toddler, but even my three-year-old can't use them without making a huge mess. The ink just floods out as soon as they touch the paper. Read more
