I bought these for my 20 month daughter, who already uses normal crayons and pencils quite happily. I thought these might be a fun alternative, however although my little girl was very excited in these when she saw them, she quickly lost interest as they are just too difficult to use properly.
The felt tip is just a small area which is not raised, on the top of the animal, and the pen has to be turned upside down and be exactly perpendicular to the paper to work. This is a really poor design, and a complete waste of money - don't bother!

Bought my 2 yr old son these pens with the little car storage case, they looked really attractive. My son is really dexterous with pens and crayons and I thought that he would love these. Despite him trying every so often to master the technique, his hands are too little, and frustratingly for him, you have to have the angle spot on (i.e. vertical to the paper)for the pens to work. We are both really disappointed as they were quite expensive. Not a good product for little ones.

My son is nearly two and loves to scribble and splat the ends of pens onto the paper. However, he has eaten the nibs of almost all my daughter's pens, snapped her pencils and chewed her crayons. These pens are fantastic. They are great for splatting as they make an ink splat and he has no trouble getting them to work. My only concern is that he can lob them some distance as they are quite heavy and if he manages to hit you they hurt!!!! I think these pens are a great product for little monsters!

I bought these for my 20 month old as he was going through a stage of eating the nibs of all the pens/crayons he could reach, and when he did use the pens he just wanted to stab the paper and scribble. These are perfect for him. Gone are the times of him putting the nib into his mouth (and sucking the ink out), and he can stab the paper as much as he likes without breaking the end of the pen. He was able to use them from the moment he picked them up and they have survived being thrown many times across the room. Being Crayola, they are washable and somehow the ink does not dry out even though there isn't a lid to put on the pens. I would recommend these as first pens, especially if your child likes to eat everything.

I've just given these to my 13 month old because she was showing an interest in using pens and she just got in a terrible mess. Ok...they say 18 months + on them so i then gave them to my 3 year old to have a go. She's already very good at colouring with pens, pencils and crayons but just couldn't get the hang of these and just ended up with ink all over her hands and clothes. Gave my 13 month old a Crayola Pipsqueak instead and she did much better with that. The Tadoodles have gone straight in the bin!!

I bought 2 packs of these for my twin sons (19 months) and feel I've just wasted my money. The tadoodles are weighted so that they stay upright so everytime my sons pick them up off the table they get the paint spot in the palm of the hand. When I give them one to hold upside down they are unable to paint with it as the sponge paint-tip only works when exactly 90 degrees to the paper. Very hard to use and the boys get very fustrated. We're back to using chunky crayons. On the plus side, I have found it washes out of clothes without any effort.

I bought this product for my toddler, but even my three-year-old can't use them without making a huge mess. The ink just floods out as soon as they touch the paper. I now have a massive ink patch on my carpet and another on the table. This product is very poorly designed: they are too large for small hands to hold; you have to hold them quite precisely to get them to work; and then the ink rushes out too fast. I like Crayola products, but this one is a dud.

My 2yr old loves this and has spent ages colouring in or scrawling on pieces of paper. Shame they arent refill type cos it is expensive to keep replacing them.
