Crayola, the leader in helping kids express their creativity, brings the world of music to kids. Kids will feel "all grown up" with their own radio and alarm clock. And parents will love the help in getting kids up and ready for school. This brightly coloured, inviting unit includes a clock radio with AM/FM radio that allows kids to wake to the radio, an alarm buzzer, or even a personalized message that they can record. The 10 second voice message recorder lets them record their own first-thing-in the-morning reminder, a favourite joke, or verse, or personal message! Replaceable patterns on the front panel let kids customize their own look.

Station presets make finding the right station easy. There's even a gradual wake system, and a snooze function for that little bit of extra sleep. An adjustable sleep timer lets kids drift off to music. There's even an auto-switching 3-colour night light. Back-up battery remembers the time and alarm setting in the event of a power failure, and will activate the alarm. AC power with AC adapter included. Back up power requires 4 AA batteries (not included).

    I bought this for my 7 yr old daughter to help her get up in the morning.She really likes it as you can record you own wake up message- Ours is a reminder to get dressed as she always wakes before the alarm. You can set 2 different alarm times if necessary and there is a snooze function too. The night light function is a bit wierd as the light sequence is very fast- it would be nicer if the lights changed more slowly. The radio reception is not brilliant but we can pick up our local stations.

    I got this radio alarm for my 5 year old. Unfortunately it has been a real disappointment - the 'night light' is more or a multicoloured, wildly flashing disco light setting and totally unsuitable as a night light if you actually want your child to sleep. There is no way of changing this to non-flashing.
    The radio receiver is very weak - I live in a more rural area and cannot receive a single radio station on either AM or FM.
    On the plus side, it does seem quite sturdy and the LCD panel has an adjustable brightness setting, which is a nice feature. It also looks very child-friendly and appealing.

    I trawled the interweb forever looking at alarm clocks and found it hard to satisfy my criteria which were: funky looking, radio alarm, atomic clock. NOTE this does NOT have an atomic clock, BUT instead it does have a battery backup which means when you get a power cut your alarm and clock settings are not trashed.

    The upsides:
    1. Dual alarm so have one alarm for work days and one for the weekend.
    2. Battery back up
    3. Allows voice recording so you can shout 'WAKE UP!' at your wife/child each morning. It's funny the first time...

    The downsides:
    1. The night light turns your childs room into a disco. I wish there was more control over how fast it changes between colours for instance.
    2. The backlight on the dimmest setting is still very bright

    Interestingly it did 'crash' once like a computer where it hung and had to take the batteries out and put them back in again. Hasn't done it since.

    Knowing what I know now I *still* would have purchased it. It's great.
