make fabric pictures with animal shapes or create fun 3-D door signs with this portable activity tub from Crayola. Adult help will probably be required to cut out a few of the templates, as some are quite small and fairly intricate. Once that is done, however, budding artists will love drawing around the shapes and gluing the fabric to the background sheets--though when the glue comes out, most adults would prefer more protection than that offered by the play mat.
The door signs are a lot less fuss to make, with neither scissors nor glue involved. Every child's bedroom door needs a "keep-out" sign, and these examples are great fun to colour and easy to assemble.
There's not much of any one material in the tub, but it's a great rainy-day kit and good value for money. (Ages 4-10 years) --Helen Baker
