Product Description

So here it was - the party to mark the beginning of the summer. But friends were rapidly turning into enemies. The local mob of street-thug wannabies had declared war. And looming over it all was the spectre of the Zone, the derelict estate haunted by stoners, psychos and freaks.

I really liked this book as the whole story is based on one night that every teenager can relate to. Problems with your mates, people you hate and others you really like and then problems within your own gang and having to fix them and get your own back on the people that cause you trouble. Its really worth the read as it has fast areas where you're rushing to turn the page and medium parts where you just enjoy whats happening at the time and can relate it to your own life. The detail is great, but its not quite long enough!

A great book 18 July 2001
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
The main character Jay, a 16 Yr old who has a party to celebrate the start of summer holidays but the main reason was that he wanted memories, he wanted to have some good times together while he still could with his best friends Sam, Danny and Cappo Danny would make new friends at college, Sam would be working and by working all the time would get less and less in common. "I could just see the meetings becoming less and less frequent, until eventually, we gave up making the effort to be friends" said Jay page 17. But the other main reason is he had had fancied Jo, Jo Anderson a chick he has been infatuated with years, longer than he could remember and this was his last chance to make her his girlfriend before she also went of to college his last time he would probably see her ever if he failed.

The problem is everything goes wrong, friends betray each other and friends rapidly turn into enemies, they get caught in a drunken street brawl with a gang who are known as the stoners, freaks and psychos of the town, to seek revenge he must put behind what has happened that night and forgive his friends so they can seek revenge in "the zone". The "the zone" being a back street behind Jay's house it was a no-go area now but that had once had a lot of small factories until a firebug had set them all alight all that was left now were blackened buildings with burned out buildings like dark eye sockets. There is where all the gangs stoners, junkies freaks etc hanged out they where known as 'Zombies' name given to them due to their appearance their blood shot eyes with baggy black charcoal coloured rings that looked as if they had been punched repeatedly in the eyes.

This book is FANTASTIC, it keeps you interested all the way through it, always leaves you wondering what will happen next and no way will you ever be able to put this book down.5 stars
