Product Description

Product Description

From Land's End to John O'Groats, this Sceptred Isle is riddled with what are laughably referred to as 'attractions'. Rubbish tourism is a proud British tradition, and from Stonehenge to Madam Tussaud's, Shakespeare's birthplace to the Harry Potter Tour, and model villages to a museum dedicated to pencils, Crap Days Out is the quintessential collection of places that will ruin a perfectly good bank holiday.

About the Author

Gareth Rubin had the idea for this book after a horrific date with a Polish girl during which she attempted to engage a Russian couple in a fist-fight. He writes for a number of newspapers including the Observer, Express, Telegraph and Main on Sunday about travel, property, the arts and personal finance. He recently completed his first novel All Honourable Men. Jon Parker is a freelance journalist published in the Guardian, The Times, Independent and Telegraph, as well as writing for television news. He got involved with this book after trekking all the way to Stonehenge to find it's hardly bigger than the one in Spinal Tap. Bloody druids.

I got this for my brother and he really loved it. I got to dip in and read a few of the reviews too, and there were definitely a number of laugh-out-loud lines in just that selection, so on that basis I assume the rest is pretty funny too! I'd recommend this for birthdays and Christmas in particular - and probably not just for boys, either, I think this is a unisex present - and it's a very reasonable price too, so I think I know what I'll be getting all my friends for Christmas!

I bought this for my boyfriend because it's just his sense of humour. I had a peek at it myself and read almost the whole thing in one sitting!!!

clever and funny 16 Oct 2011
Format:Hardcover
Both my husband and I, and our nephew, and my aged aunt, laughed out loud when reading this book. It is an ideal present for anyone who likes a good laugh. Take to a dinner party instead of flowers. It is also a useful guide when planning a day out either with or without oversees visitors. Some places sound so awful you absolutely have to see them - I'm dying to visit the creationist museum. My only criticism is the authors' assertion that Nessie doesn't exist.
