Product Description

Book Description

Thirty years ago, The Cramps oozed forth from the darkest recesses of trash culture to create a mutant strain of punk and rockabilly that would establish the band as genuine cult icons. Led by long- time mainstays Lux Interior and Poison Ivy Rorcshach, The Cramps combined the primal rhythms of early rock n'roll, garage rock, surf pop and psychedelia with a kitsch, B-movie horror aesthetic and set off to explore the final frontiers of sex, drugs and rock'n' roll. The Cramps charts this voyage presenting an unique examination of their strange and terrible journey. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is for all you Gucci bag carriers..., 28 Feb 2007

As 'The Wild Wild World of The Cramps' by Ian Johnston is now virtually impossible to get hold of (unless you're willing to fork out anything between £116.50-£158.95 - see Amazon Marketplace), this offering by Dick Porter is a very welcome addition to any Cramps fan's collection.

Well written and nicely illustrated throughout, it covers the band's history from their early releases all the way up to How To Make A Monster. It's a great introduction to the band for new fans and should also please established fans. Not only that, it also features exclusive new interviews with Lux Interior and Poison Ivy.

Enjoy the journey into the weird and wonderful world of The Cramps and remember, Don't Eat Stuff Off The Sidewalk!

4.0 out of 5 stars Better than enjoying yourself - Lux Interior - RIP, 6 Feb 2009
By Craig White "BTEY" (kilmarnock) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
there are very few people who ever understood the true spirit of rock n roll, and two of them were in The Cramps. In view of Lux's recent death, it is now time for someone to produce a definitive biography of the group and all other individuals involved. Until then, this well researched, but lacking in direct band involvement, book, along with the longtime unavailable Ian Johnston volume contains all we need to know for the time being. Buy this soon, because, now that the drug train has left the station, demand for Cramps produce will rocket.
